LaMar wisely dodges Soriano deal

PrintFor financial reasons, the Devil Rays backed out of a trade that would have brought them Alfonso Soriano from Texas for closer Danys Baez and second baseman Jorge Cantu.
Had this deal taken place, It would have been a downer for me. I just don't like hearing Cantu's name offered in any deal.
The 2005 Durham Bulls have some familiar names like Cox, Upton, Gomes, but their are some new faces :
The two new infielders are Earl Snyder, who hit 36 homers for Pawtucket last season and was named the Red Sox organization minor-league player of the year; and left-hitting third baseman Eric Munson, who spent the last two full seasons with the Detroit Tigers.

That would have been an abysmal trade and it's scary to think that Soriano's contract was apparently the only thing that kept it from happening.

First we wouldn't play Cantu when he clearly deserved it, now we're trying to trade him. F*%& you, too, LaMar.
