Jason Johnson DFA'd

Well the Indians DFA'd him yesterday, any thoughts on picking him up? I know he's not having a great season but maybe getting out of Cleveland will help him. I doubt it, but he couldn't be worse than McClung has been. Plus he seems to be an inning eater also so someone like that could be a nice pickup

With McClung demoted, Jason Johnson seems at least as good an alternative as Tim Corcoran...

I'm all for it...........

I think Johnson would be a good pickup, as long as he harbors no ill will towards the organization. He has a great arm, and has had several decent years with the Orioles, but for the most part, has been an underachiever. I would be willing to take the gamble that he puts it together because the potential reward outweighs the risk. And it is not like we have much to lose.

Too bad

Too bad we couldn't offer the famous Player to be Named later, I thought he would of helped. Well hopefully he continues his struggles, especially when we meet Boston

Supposidly Boston is going to eat a lot of the money remaining on his contract, and I don't think I would have been willing to do that, from our standpoint.

Actually

CNN/Sports Illustrated reported that the Indians were paying most of his $3.5 million salary for this season.

I've heard otherwise

But to me, the salary makes all the difference in a guy like Johnson. I like his arm, but I'm not willing to pay that much for a guy just DFA'd.

From what I hear,

the Sawx are only on the hook for about $1 mil, which is why they were o.k. with it.

I actually don't get it. The Sox have other young pitching options--Jon Lester, for example, who had a pretty decent start his last time around. But oh well.

It may well be that Johnson is available again in a couple of weeks, if things don't go well quickly.
