Delmon continues assault on pitchers
4-5, 4 RBI, 2 doubles. His average is up to .374. All of you haters out there are going to be sorry for doubting him. He is the real deal and you are smoking crack if you think that he's struggling just because he hasn't been hitting homers. He is starting to drive the ball and the longballs will come. His numbers now are a solid improvement over his stint in AAA last season.

Hahahaha
Couldn't help myself.
I like the batting average, but you gotta think it's a bit skewed because of the whole 50 game suspension.
Also, 1 HR? C'mon...

What is his OPS, you ask?

"Doesn't hit for power?"
When he's destroying the majors, are you going to be nitpicking like this, or happy that he's on the Rays?

In his last two games.........
If he hits one home run in the major leagues, that is not destorying. If he has an Iso under .100 in the majors, that is not destroying. When he is an ass to fans, players, or coaches again and gets called out, are you going to be kissing his ass? Of course you are, because he can do no wrong.

Why are you such a hater?
As for all the YTD numbers you keep trotting out to slag on him, I would bet right now he finishes in the top two of the team in slugging if he stays down at Durham the entire year. He's in the leaders in the minor leagues in BA and you guys are poo-pooing it just because the HR haven't come yet. He's going to hit for power - that's something I am not at all concerned about and you guys are freaking out about it.
Do you seriously think his ISO is going to remain this low for the rest of the year?
I think the major belief I have that you guys don't seem to have is that Delmon is the one guy in all of the minor leagues where I don't need to see any more of to know that he will eventually be an absolute stud in the majors. He is going to absolutely rake - I don't need to see him repeat his AA statline at AAA to know that. A lot of people here seem to want the checklist validation whereas I would rather just see him in a Devil Rays uniform getting used to major league pitching.

Why am I such a hater?
As for your waste of space blabber underneath that stupid headline, two games does not a good player make. If it were, when Delmon went 0 for 9, I assume you would be trumpeting around telling everyone what a bad player he is? No, of course you wouldn't. Think of the opposite scenario before launching into some long, useless fact-void diatribe.
He has started to show the power, huh? One home run does not a Silver Slugger make. You can't say that yet. You keep bringing up his batting average, and yes, it is good. He has been killing the ball. Unfortunately, it has been all weak singles and garbage time base hits. He doesn't walk, he has bad power, and you ignore that.
And no, actually he isn't among the minor league leaders in BA, why? Because of a little 50 game suspension that you carefully omitted. I agree he will hit for power, but trying to make up indicators in his current performance that he is hitting for power is pathetic and without merit. No one thinks he will keep his power drought up, but he hasn't showed it yet in Durham, and the stats back that up. Yet you try to ignore them constantly.
No one thinks that Delmon won't be a stud, and no one has thought that ever at any point in his pro career. Because he was a can't miss prospect. We get that, we don't need daily reminders, and we don't need you trying to make up metrics to inflate his empty BA in the effort.
