Tropicana Field Seating Question

I am attending my first game at the trop next Monday. I like visiting other parks doing mini-reports on the venue I want to see as much of the stadium as possible, so I need your help choosing tickets and have a few questions:

If I buy a club seat, will I be able to walk in the lower section to get the different perspectives around the place?

Are the club seats worth it?

Can I go "visit" the beach for a few minutes for my reports or is it closed for private parties?

Any must visit spots or tips or anything that will help my report?

Thanks!!

On a Monday
When the Yanks or Red Sox aren't in town...you can pretty much go anywhere you please in the Pit (hmm....not sure I like that, but for Maddon, I'll try it)

I haven't been to the club seats, so I can't speak if they're worth it or not.

But, I'm sure if you had tickets there, you can go anywhere else you want - as you can pretty much go anywhere you want with any tickets.  You can go to the beach - and I'd recommend a stop there for the view from above.  Also, hit the "outside" area next to the green restaurant in center field.  You just walk through the restaurant to get there...and check out the broken windows from some long HRs.

The new Rays touch tank just opened, so you can go play with some live Rays while you're there.  We also have a cigar bar, which I'd guess most MLB parks don't have...I've never been there, as you can't see the field from it.

I'd also recommend a beer at Ferg's before the game (across the parking lot on Central)

I take it...
...when you say the pit you mean the park?

Also, I read that in lot 6A there is a bin of infield dirt. Is this true? are there any other "sneak peak" type places?

Thanks!!

Yes - the Pit is Tropican Field
That's what our manager is trying to nickname it.

I have no idea about lot 6A, sorry.

Good places to watch game/ things to eat
I normally sit in section 138 which is just right of the right field flag pole.  From here you have a great view down the line, you can see the jumbotron, you can see plays at the right field/center field walls, and you have a great view of the bullpen.  This section is also really close to bathrooms and a major concession area which is a real plus.

Other places I like..
There is a standing room only area to the right of home plate.  You can wander up there without being hassled and stand and watch the ballgame.  This area is multi-tiered so finding a bar/table top to lean agains to watch the game isn't normally a problem.  This area, being under the overhang of the upperseats also has TVs so you can see some replays which is cool.

With the rennovations, there are more of these common type areas (where no specific seat is required) all over the park. Wander around early and check them out but definitely the best is behind homeplate.

Finally, i totally recommend the Power Alley pub which is the bar area in center field mentioned above.  You can make your way to this area by walking through the Batters Eye Restaurant.  The Power Alley pub is two levels and food and beer can be ordered here as they do have a wandering waitstaff waiting on patrons.  Get there early if you want a seat up along the fence.

As for what i normally eat, i love boiled peanuts and they now have a vendor that sells them.  $5 for a huge container.  If you haven't tried them before, well I recommend checking them out.  Try the cajun.  If the crowd is small, there is only one vendor in the 3rd base concession area.  During larger crowds, they sell them both on the 1st base and 3rd base side.

Oh yeah, and of course check out the Budweiser Brew House.  After the game, you can catch the Rays after game radio program and drink beers at half price.

Well have fun and Go Rays!

oh yeah, Herman T's BBQ is great
Though not the normal ballpark fare, if you are hungry grab some BBQ from Herman T's.  The give nice size portions.

Oh yeah, and a reminder you can bring in your own grub.  My wife and I normally bring our own peanuts.  You can pretty much bring in what you want foodwise as long as it is in a clear plastic bag.

Finally, don't forget stadium parking is now free and that you can tailgate.  This is really nice if you want to chill outside a bit before the game with some friends and drink a few "cheap" beers before having to go inside and start shelling out $7 per beer.  When new mgmt offered this to the fans a few of us thought that few would take advantage of this but we were wrong.  On gameday, all over the place you can see friends hanging out and you also see a few grills going.  Definitely expect this when you have the Red Sox and Yankees in town.
