Delmon's comments

What do you all think of Delmon's comments (other than him being right)?    It seems pretty weak to me to accuse B.J. Upton of having a sense of entitlement given that he's succeeding a third straight season offensively in AAA and the reason that he's not up now is that management wasn't smart enough to switch his position earlier in the year.

You can't keep kids down forever.    At some time they have to play.

Delmon
It will be interesting to see what happens with Wiggy going on the DL. I am pretty certain if the USA Today article had not been printed Upton would have been called up to take his place now... who knows. As far as your assertion "Management was not smart enough to switch his position earlier in the year"  I think you are being too hard on the DRO.  The way I understood it HE was resistant to changing positions the DRO did not want to FORCE him to leave shortstop.

Hopefully they bring him up anyway, I get the feeling (I have no idea whether or not this is true) that Young and Dukes may be a bad influence on Upton. If he is around CC and the other vets he may learn to act like a big leaguer and get Evian Showers too.  I just hope todays game does not convince them that Perez is the answer.

Unfortunate to be Upton
I believed that Upton gets wrongly pegged together with D&D, seeing that his comments may have had a negative tone, but if you think about...not really wrong. Upton was told that he'd have a short stay in Durham after he moved to 3rd, but the "around 2 weeks" comment seems to be a bit of a lie.

I, however, don't believe that Upton has been affected negatively by the other 2. If you don't remember, Upton angrily pulled Young aside the very game that Young threw the bat. Also, I'm sure that he's talked to Dukes multiple times in a harsh tone. Upton has very strong leadership skills. Outside of the DUI, he's never shown poor judgement at anytime.

Wholeheartedly agree
I don't think BJ said anything negative towards the organization at all.

Even Dukes took blame for his being down, saying his biggest enemy is his self.    He then went on that weird rant about dirty uniforms and Evian showers though.   I thought that was the worst comment of the three.

Delmon knew he said too much - even the article suggested it.   But he didn't suggest in the article quotes that he should be up - just that BJ should be.

The worst thing is the DRO reaction against these three - are they really to have us believe that these three haven't earned it?   Of course they aren't being patient - they are being held back for no good reason.

Upton
Somewhere earlier today -- wish I could remember where -- BJ amplified his comments in fairly responsible way.  Even to the point that the "I can't believe I'm still here" comment was supposed to be directed at himself -- taking responsibility for not having solved his defensive problems, still making errors.

I will try to remember where I saw that and point to it later.

I believe that...
BJ expanding on his comments was part of a SP Times article on Friday or Saturday. He blamed himself for being down there, saying something along the lines of "I can't believe that the errors are still happening"
