New Name the Rays Could Look at For Pitching Coach?

The Orioles just fired Leo Mazzone.

Star-divide

Obviously they won't do it, but hey I can dream can't I? I would love X to do it, but Leo has also proven to be a great pitching coach, except for in BAL, though he wasn't given much to work with. It will be interesting to see if it was ATL pitchers that made Leo or the other way around, b/c you know he will get a shot somewhere.

Not sure where he'd go
But, here's a look at the Mazzone effect, by some guy named J.C. Bradbury, his name just keeps coming up you know...

I think I would still rather see X
Mazzone's track record speaks for itself, but I think familiarity goes a long way in dealing with the pitching prospects we have within our organization. And there is no question that Hernandez brings that to the table, as well as a track record of success. We need to stop hiring outsiders when we have the best candidate right in our hands.

'Excited noises'
"I think Leo still has a lot of fire in his belly. He wants to be part of a winning organization," Steele said. "But he's not opposed to doing what he did in Atlanta, taking a team from last to first. Either way, we suspect there will be a lot of interest in him."
