Johan Santana's destination

It appears that it will be either Boston or the Yankees, of course it would HAVE to be to our division. Which place would you rather he end up? Boston, where their rotation would include Santana, Beckett, Matsuzaka, Schilling, Wakefield or the Yankees? I would rather he land in NY, because the offers sound like they would have to give up MLB ready starting pitching like Hughes. It takes a special pitcher to pitch in NY, and Santana's postseason record is mediocre. The names I've heard from Boston are Crisp, Ellsbury, Lester. Thoughts?

Re: Johan Santana's destination
I made some comments about this on Matt's post.  I don't like it one bit, and I tied my reasons to the Garza trade.  You can see what I responded there about it.

Re: Johan Santana's destination
I will say this, the Rays task REGARDLESS of what they have to do, will be more daunting in this division, in my own opinion than ANY of the other 5.  I would rather compete, business plan, resource-wise and prospect for prospect with the Central or NL East even than here.  There was a phenomenal piece by Ken Rosenthal yesterday about this concern and let's just say that my own personal concerns are like me pushing against the tide at Clearwater Beach.

Very kindly speaking, its going to be very, very daunting for the Rays.  Better and more wins in the short term, I say yes.  How good, I just don't think it will be enough.

Re: Johan Santana's destination
Yeah, now we'll have to deal with Santana atleast 5 times a year. I hate the Bankees and Red Stocks.
Maybe Garza and Santana can have a pitching duel one time this year.

I wonder what happens if he goes to the Sox. Would they keep Beckett at No. 1?

My Blog. Check it out if you wish.

Boston
That way NY has to panic to find another rotation arm.

I'm sure Kaz - Shields - Garza won't mind facing top talent; and I'm positive that Garza would love to top Johan a few times a year.

Re: Boston
Eh, it sort of doesn't matter to me where he goes. It is more challenging for us regardless of wherever he lands, if he does in one of those two places. The bottom line is that we can't really worry about what Boston and New York do, because we have no control over it. All we can do is work to put the best team possible on the field from now going forward.

Re: Johan Santana's destination
I'm hoping Santana goes to the Mets and far away from the AL East. There was a rumor flying around the Mets offered Jose Reyes.

That would be the best scenario
Hopefully the Mets take the lead in the trade talks, but right now it still looks like it is the Yankees' or Red Sox's trade to lose.

Re: Johan Santana's destination
I think Santana's destination will also dictate where Dan Haren goes too.  The "loser" will certainly turn their attention to him.

Re: Johan Santana's destination
My utter hatred for both teams continues to soar...
I don't even like the fact that they only get to hate each other, when I have to HATE both of them...
