While perusing the morning links I came across this "Tune by Tuck" from THT that features the Rays work in progress :

Speaking of the process, the Rays cool-aid is served as Results Disoriented brings to our attention that Ron Shandler is very high on the Rays in 2008. He gives a best year ever with a record over 500.

That's a tad bit unfair to Sternberg, they've done well in the re-branding process since taking over, and on the field nothing they could do was going to make this team compete before 2009, although I expect we'll finish in third.

Shandler

I'm glad RD didn't post straight from the book like I've seen other places do, lots of work poured into that guide yearly and I hate to see Shandler lose business because of it.

That being said this is pretty incredible:

By at least one measure, the Rays will feature five of MLB's top 30 starting pitchers next year. That's just plain sick.

I wouldn't rank Sonny and Howell that high, but it's nice to know Howell is somehow underrated by Rays fans compared to Shandler's guide and in general Mariner fans.

I don't see any way to value JP that highly for 2008. Players, especially young players, have the right to improve, but his MLB career has been below replacement level to date.
