New Trade Rumor?

Joe Christensen, baseball writer for the Star-Tribune, was being interviewed this afternoon on "The Beat with Charlie Steiner". He states the latest trade rumor around the Twins organization has Ty Wigginton going to the Twins to help "jump start" their offense. He sees Wigginton adding a bit of fire to their lineup, just like Shannon Stewart did a few years back.

First, I hope this rumor has no merit to it. I love the versatility he brings to the Rays. He brings a high level work ethic, no matter where the Rays play him on a given night. All of the young up and coming players should look at the way he plays the game and learn from him.

Secondly, however, if they do receive an offer too good to pass up, I hope it includes one or two of the Twins fine bullpen arms.

I feel if the Twins want "Wiggy" that much, they're going to have to come up with a deal that is really worthwhile.

Re: New Trade Rumor?
The Charley Steiner show on XM is maybe the most informative "hot stove/scuttlebutt" rumor show in baseball, period.  I would tend to believe that there is some truth to what was said.

Can only hope that what ever is offered is substantial.  Neshek would be nice, but you would figure that the Twins would view him as a solution to their own woes.  Wiggy just isn't going to be turned over.

What?
If Wigginton were to "jump start" the Minnesota offense, wouldn't he need to get on base at a rate higher than .306?

Re: What?
Shhhh, they love white people up there regardless of playing ability. Lets see if we can get Liriano, Nathan and Bonser. We do have an average white position player to deal...

Re: New Trade Rumor?
When the competition includes Nick Punto, Jeff Cirillo and Jason Tyner, I can see why they might want him.. but I somehow doubt they'd give up anything we could use immediately.

Re: New Trade Rumor?
haha I was talking about Jason TYner the other day. Dude looks like a batboy.

I would give up Wiggy though. I don't like him at all. He has no place on this club beyond this year anyways so why not get some help?

Re: New Trade Rumor?
I'd take Matt Guerrier for him, then again Guerrier is having a great season so I doubt they'd deal him, same with Glen Perkins.
