Our good friend Tim Dierkes over at MLB Trade Rumors found this nugget in the most recent Ken Rosenthal piece:
Rosenthal says Kenny Williams has talked to roughly 20 teams about his starting pitchers in one way or another. Interestingly, he confirms the recent radio rumor that the D-Rays inquired about Buehrle. Williams has also discussed Jose Contreras and Javier Vazquez with Tampa Bay. I'll say it again: the Devil Rays should be contenders in 2008.

Williams, for example, has talked with the Devil Rays about his available starting pitchers — Buehrle, Contreras and right-hander Javier Vazquez. In each case, the Devil Rays could either flip the pitcher they acquired or retain him as a veteran anchor, presumably with the White Sox including significant money in the trade.
And things just got interesting again with less than four weeks until the trade deadline...
