Bonds is a great hitter who would have been worthy of the HOF even without "help" from banned substances, but I don't believe he's worthy of the HR records and him breaking them tarnishes the records and game.  I don't believe everyone else cheated as Jose Canseco would have us believe as he just so happens to peddle his book(s).  Or Canseco is the Forrest Gump of steroid usage and nobody else saw anything or aren't willing to speak up and make a small fortune selling tell-all books.

Great hitter, personally I don't care about steroid usage or not, too many questions to try and sort out from the 90's about who used and who didn't.

He is best hitter ever with no question.  His pitch recognition is God-like and his swing is near flawless.  Barry hit so many of his homers when he was ahead in the count.  His knowledge of the strike zone and willingness to be patient and wait for his "one" pitch per at bat is something steroids can't do for you.  Again, best hitter ever.

I don't think steroids even matter. First, they are going to the pitchers as well as the hitters (speculatively), and secondly, "+" stats bear out how great Bonds is. The only people consistantly higher ranked than he is in era and park adjusted measurements are Ruth and Gehrig, and I personally don't count any stats before 1947. Josh Gibson is still going to be the best hitter (home run or otherwise) ever, and Bonds won't pass him.

Personally I'd put him just below Gibson and Mays as the third best player ever, followed by Ruth and Aaron.
