Carlos Peña Lives with the Immortals

Stay connected for news and updates

The Rays' single season home run record books were just re-written, as Carlos Peña hit his 35th home run of the year just now in tonight's game against Baltimore to set a new club record. The milestone eclipses the previous record of 34 shared by Jose Canseco and Aubrey Huff.

Unfortunately the commissioner couldn't make it, and the in-game ceremony was truncated. Repeatedly throughout the home run chase, Canseco declared that he would not be present when the home run was hit and he lived up to his word. It is unclear if a video announcement is forthcoming. Huff, in attendance to honor the record-setting night, had no comment.
