Coincidences Are Sometimes Hilarious

The Rays dealt Delmon Young (and others) for Matt Garza (and others) in hopes of having three legit starters that would not only help them reach the playoffs, but advance throughout.

Jon Lester has owned the Rays everytime except in the playoffs.

Garza and Lester are going to face-off to decide which American League East (also known as the group of death) will head home and host the World Series.

Tonight it's Matt Garza's world, which looks something like this:

There's something about this team that just feels like somehow tonight is going to end with a champagne bath for Garza.

I swear to god The Groovenians may be the worst show ever.

I feel sorry for anyone who knows what I’m talking about.

Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.

I beg of you

stop with the ‘Big game’ nicknames

by sternfan1 on Oct 19, 2008 12:27 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

dude, i'm not the enemy

Somehow the ‘big game’ nickname for Shields is ammo for the Red Sox

Its a joke pissant

Labeling Garza with this ridiculous moniker makes as much sense as ShIelds If you would kindly fuck off and die that would be great.

And my reply was

not tongue in cheek?

Lighten up my friend, we all want the Rays to win, just that i call a spade a spade, and y’all wear pleated skirts and pom poms all day long

You're as much folk hero as everyone here is a cheerleader

There are no rosy glasses to be found, you go out of your way to be a dick by making shit up. Stating your opinion as if it was fact is a good way to lose friends in a hurry. I don’t think yOu mean toNgue in cheek more like dick in moutH

I just posted on LL

If the Red Sox win tonight, I am never watching ESPN again. The pain will be too great. Death to ESPN and their hard on for the Red Sox.

I'm fine with Garza's arm

It’s his head and the umpire’s strike zone along with the defense behind him that have me a bit nervous

by sternfan1 on Oct 19, 2008 12:41 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

the defense behind him

HEY GUYS LETS ALL DUMP THOSE 162 GAMES WE PLAYED BEFORE AND PRETEND THE DEFENSE SUCKS. YEAH!

I don't even have the energy to play this game today

RJ, nefore

you bash my thought, consider this

1- Garza seems affected more by errors than others

2- The defense in Game 5 and 6 has been less than stellar

by sternfan1 on Oct 19, 2008 12:47 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

The defense was amongst the best in the league for 162 games.

You REALLY believe these last two games is more telling of their true talent level than the 162?

The bigger the game

the plays become magnified

While you’ll continue to hit me with sample size stats, i suggest the noose is tightening, and i DO HOPE i’m wrong

Four hits last night? Please

ok lets be serious and civil for a second

Bringing up how we failed and pissing all over the team, how does that help anyone?

what does that do? how will that make anyone happy?

Sorry, if the Sox make the playoffs your man Byrd probably wont even play.

We know the kind of game

that Garza is capable of pitching.

The funny thing is that you don't realize you're not a good analyst. Most of the crap you spew is either heavily cliched or intentionally negative.

You must live a miserable life and yet you continue to think of yourself as something amazing. It’s almost like you want to be labeled a rebel, in fact I’m really not sure why I unbanned you after the Rays won the AL East, you still bring nothing to this site and with your ban history you shouldn’t be privileged enough to post here.

My shift keys have been doing whatever they want lately. The left one is stuck and

the right one alternates between spasming and not responding. It is incredibly frustrating and what do you know it is working better now.

Red Sox and Yankees

are going after Sabathia, Burnett, Peavy and Texiera

fun!

by joeybw on Oct 19, 2008 1:18 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I'm hoping Sabathia and Burnett

stay out of the ALE

We don’t need to face those dudes 10x a year

And why not?

How many times did we see Halladay? 5?

We play each team 6 series

Did anyone tell Cashman

that Sabathia doesn’t require a posting fee?

dont worry

they will spend more money than ever and get the same shitty results out of it.

And they never learn the way of the Rays, to draft early and build from within, instead of throwing money at your problems.

Matt Garza is in the middle of having his 3rd testicle descend. He will be ready in time to win tonight though.

by joeybw on Oct 19, 2008 2:01 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Shitty results?

12 Straight ALE titles

4 WS

You would balk at that?

by sternfan1 on Oct 19, 2008 2:11 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

How about lately since you seem to care so much about only recent events

Giambi? Mussina? A-Rod?

That’s a lot of money and where are their rings?

As Rays fans

we’re waxing our carrots over one playoff appearence

I’ll repeat, still think those are ‘shitty’ results?

Once you get in the post season, anything can happen

Word on the street is that Milwaukee offered something around 145M

Another 50% would bring it to 217M. I do not see him getting that.

THIS IS THE BOTTOM LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that some of you get upset when posters attempt to back up theory with factual analysis, but please bear with me for just a moment….

ONE GAME….
Nothing else matters. Period. 162 game season, ALDS, 7 game losing streak, home records, road records, Thursday night or Saturday night. NOTHING MATTERS BUT SUNDAY. Win or lose, this team has picked themselves up off the mat time and time again.
ONE GAME….
All of our pitchers are great, but honestly, there is NO ONE ID RATHER HAVE ON THE BUMP TODAY THAN MATTHEW FUCKING GARZA….Dude is borderline…no, dude IS crazy. GARZA against the world, winner take all, mano y mano….I like our chances.
ONE GAME….
TO PROVE ONCE AND FOR ALL THAT WE ARE THE SUPERIOR TEAM…Sox won the wild card for a reason.
ONE GAME….
For a pennant, game 7, all the dice…..if some of you cant let go of the past and get excited and pumped up about the OPPORTUNITY OF A LIFETIME FOR THIS TEAM, I ask……..WHERE THE HELL HAVE YOU BEEN THE PAST 10 YEARS?

But we true fans already know the answer to that one, now dont we?

ONE GAME………..GIVE EM HELL BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
