I'm heading out to the game
First time ever I am bringing a cowbell.
I think we are going to win. I know we are going to win. We have the better team.
The key matchup will be Maddon vs Francona. Tito has been out managing Joe lately, but I think Joe pulls this one out.
Go Rays.

No matter what happens Sunday night, the Rays will go down in baseball history as a great success story. A rival general manager mused Saturday that Tampa Bay might win Sunday night and win the best-of-seven World Series. But he said that in some respects, winning the AL East — inhabited by the financial monsters from Boston and the Bronx — over 162 games might even be a greater accomplishment than winning a handful of games in October. The Rays have become baseball’s version of “Hoosiers,” or the Miracle on Ice 1980 U.S. Olympic hockey team. We’ll see whether they can write the final chapters Sunday night and in the World Series.
- Olney
I agree. Says a lot more to finish first after 162 games than a handful of games in October….but, lets win both!

Someone forgot Matt Garza
Rays. The addition of Peavy would be ideal for a rotation that already includes James Shields, Scott Kazmir, David Price and Andy Sonnanstine. Tampa-St. Pete is relatively close to Alabama, and an Edwin Jackson-Reid Brignac-Jeff Niemann package might entice the Padres. The Rays, however, are wary of taking on significant payroll while parting with top young players.

Would you believe it if we told you that Tampa Bay Rays phenom Evan Longoria didn’t exactly endear himself to the locals while out on the town in Boston last week???
During a champagne-soaked time at District after Game 4, the Rays’ hot corner man was suffering from a sorry case of premature celebration.
Seems that after the Rays humiliated the Sox for the second night in a row, Evan was yelling to anyone who would listen: "It’s over now, Boston!"
Of course, at the time, it soooo wasn’t.
And upon exiting the rockin’ club with a star-struck blonde, a spywitness swears that Longoria poured himself into the back seat of a Boston Police cruiser and said to the cop: "To my hotel!"

Kinda weird. He owns a club in NYC called Santos Party House (although everything internal calls it “Santa’s Party House”, and he actually works the bar from time to time. One would think he’d be out on the floor, but it seems pretty down to earth for someone with his reputation.

OK
TRA+: 159 vs 144. Not that huge of a gap though, and if you use two year data, boner comes out on top. I guess my point is that it’s not a completely asinine statement without some grounds in reality, like claiming that K-Rod is the best closer in the league.

The Tigers didn’t have experience, neither did the White Sox, either Marlins team, or even the Cardinals 2 years ago. When they say experience they mean you are either the Yankees, Red Sox, or Braves.

-Heater
Rays manager Joe Maddon is confident the Rays will handle the pressures of Sunday’s Game 7 with no problem and sees no need to address the team before the game.
"There will be no team meeting,‘’ Maddon said. "At this particular juncture for me, it’s just sticking with the overall philosophy of what we’ve been doing. To me it’s the right way to do things. I don’t think any speech on my behalf is going to make any difference in tonight’s game, I really don’t believe that. I believe us coming together and staying together and keep doing the things we’ve been doing all year is going to get us to win this game tonight. It’s not going to come through words. Sometimes I think that’s misinterpreted.’’
Maddon said the Rays are confident, and he is eager to see how they do. "I’m really looking forward to it,‘’ he said. "Game 7 of anything is absolutely the most fun it can possibly be. When you’re a kid growing up you’re always playing Game 7 – well, here it is.’’
Maddon said he is very proud of where the Rays are today and, "I have a strong convinction and belief they’re going to get it done tonight.’’
Also, RHP Troy Percival, who called Maddon on Saturday and said he was planning to return on Sunday, hadn’t shown up or been in further contact by 4:30.

By that I mean
Not great on defense, never really seems like he’s trying hard, and gets hurt simply because he takes TOO many pitches. The reason his OBP is high isn’t that he sees the ball that well, but that he guesses a lot and usually he guesses that the pitch is a ball and doesn’t swing, even at pitches down the middle. If he could even learn when to swing at mistake pitches, he could be very valuable.

Some big guys may be moved this offseason
This one surprised me, but Sherman throws a new name as a possibility on the trade market: Russell Martin. Sherman cites rival executives in saying that the Dodgers aren’t “enamored with his makeup” and that with frontline catchers being hot commodities, the Dodgers could explore the market to see what Martin could bring in return.
I love Navarro but man Martin in a Rays jersey, yes plz!

I don't know
I read earlier that they want to have him at 3B long term which probably makes him a lot less useful to them. They also have some catching prospects, I can’t remember their names but they have them!
Martin would get a INSANE return and I can see him being moved, just please not to god damn AL East unless he comes to Tampa, of course.

My family drives over on Friday, my high school is on a bye, I attend a wake, the Sox win.
Saturday: funeral, fun at a lake, Gators start dominating, Red Sox game goes on past midnight ET, they lose.
Sunday: Sox lose in early morning hours, Bears lose, most of my extended family leaves, we drive back over, I say: SCREW THE HOMEWORK

Remember when we were kids and we mixed sodas together and called them "suicides"? It was OK though, because Dr. Pepper was always there.

Or are they, and they wear it like some badge of honor?

The ratings go up
Because a lot of people want to watch them lose. Just like the Yankees in the late 90s

If I were a batter facing Papelbon, I would make kissy faces at him to taunt him.
