James Shields' Performance
It was only right that James Shields got the first playoff start in Rays history. The man who has became as synonymous with this franchise as Mrs. Butterworth failed to disappoint. Shields walked one, allowed six hits, and struck four out in 6.3 innings of three run ball (all on a Dewayne Wise homerun). Shields also got nine groundouts and only five fly outs. Pitch F/x charts:
(Ed Note: For whatever reason the first three pitches registered as "unidentified" and were excluded)

Question for Rays fans
Doesn’t merit a separate post, I don’t think. I was listening to the game on XM yesterday and they announced the attendance as 35,041 and a sellout. The announcers said that some of the seats were being used for other things, like the press. Were there 10,000 press there? Or something else keeping people out of the seats? The capacity is 45K, right? Just curious.
Also, go Rays! We’re rooting for you in Birdland.

There are sections of obstructed views in the upper decks
They won’t remove the covers of those seats until the WS if the Rays get there. If that happens the capacity becomes something like 43-44K I think
