Kazmir Threw Sliders Again
65% fastballs, 25% sliders, 10% change-ups. Not a beautiful start, but a lot better than what we were seeing a month ago.
More tomorrow.

We lost 1 at home in the Boston series, too.
And Philly doesn’t have Josh Beckett and Jon Lester walking through that door.

Philly has Josh Beckett
Just the Game 2 Beckett.
Carlos and Victor Zambrano have exactly the same number of career postseason wins. Who would have thought?

We can take the next 3 just like we did against Boston
and it should be a lot easier
and they dont have that incredible pitching and as good of hitters to come back.
We will lose game 5 also. If we win the non Hamel games, no problem.
Matt Garza is in the middle of having his 3rd testicle descend. He will be ready in time to win tonight though.

that stupid blown balk call was total bullshit

Even though I love the angels, I'm rooting for you guys. Some reasons are that you guys play the right kind of ball ( angels baseball ) and you have joe and percy
good luck. I’ll be rooting for you guys!

for who the rays or percy?
i havent even come close to giving up on the rays since i thought the odd of winning this game was slim, but percy really hasnt pitched in about a month and i would be surprised if he played next year

i dont why
but im not as upset of losing this game like i was against boston
felt like a regular season series
weird
by Schmidt on Oct 23, 2008 12:27 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
me too...
but then:
- It WAS the world series and I’ll admit I was just happy (nay, thrilled) to be there…
- I was in the upper deck for the first time (and almost at the right field foul pole) so I sure didn’t feel as “connected” to the game as I had in the 100’s… you’d think they could point just a few of the speakers towards the upper deck
- Balf came in and looked superb (and he threw curveballs too!). I think David Price should get a start in Philly; for some reason they looked just lost against the heat.
- Mainly, I still see us winning this series…
by AussieGriff on Oct 23, 2008 1:34 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
and
- It wasn’t Boston.

Exactly the same way I felt.
It felt like we already played the most important series. I’m not even really excited about the World Series like I was the ALCS.

i know, it's very weird. i just went to bed like "ehh, oh well" but i was devistated when we lost a game to boston

I left the game after the 8th...
something I have not done ALL YEAR, no matter what the score was or how bad traffic was going to be after the game.
A letdown is something I worry about with the team. I wonder if they aren’t as motivated in this series because they already slayed the dragon.

so how about this new MLB network
i think that they should start this channel during the winter trade meetings instead of jan 1, but im really interested to see how this show is and who is on it

I picked the Rays to win in 6.
Losing a close game one to Cole Hamels to start the series.
So I’ve been right so far. Take heart, Rays fans.
lol

Lol.
I think it will be Six also. Hamels is dirty. I have not seen much of him but tonight he impressed me a lot. His change up is downright nasty at times.

Rays fans that are sitting closest to the field
If you see an opposing teams player reaching in to the stands to catch a foul ball. Slap his glove spit in his ear tell him a story do what ever you have to do. They have no rights to a ball that is over the wall. On the other hand…. If it is a Rays player fielding a ball across the wall. Make room for him. There is no reason Ryan Howard should have been able to catch that foul ball 3 rows deep down the first base line that BJ Upton hit.
Also, Why did they not send Zobrist to home on Iwamura’s single to right. They left a run on the field in my opinion. But all in all it was a good game.
ALSO CALL THE BALK !!!

They backed away like Howard had the plague. Once that arm leaves the field of play it’s not fan interferance anymore.

Everybody thinks we're already the champs
that’s why we lost game 1 and if we don’t change that attitude we’re gonna lose the world series

Everyone's feelings of the Rays have nothing to do with whether they win or lose.

Feelings and superstitions are the number one reasons
why teams win or lose. It’s a proven scientific fact.

Of the 15 pitches Howard saw from Scott Kazmir, 10 were sliders, and he grounded out, struck out and walked on nine pitches.
So, if you take out the sliders to Howard, what does that do to his slider %?

that has nothing to do with my question, though.
by walkoffwalk on Oct 23, 2008 1:20 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That should be relatively easy to figure out, no?
Kaz threw (I believe) 110 pitches. That means he threw ~27 sliders. If you subtract the 10 he threw to Howard, he threw 17 sliders to the rest of the lineup, out of 95 pitches total.
