Edwin jackson's fastball is straighter than Charlie Sheen.
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.
I have a new game plan
Hit Aki in the head to knock some sense into him and then a BJ grand slam, I think its a full proof plan
Ball4 . Oh wait Aki sucks.

Phillies pitcher
Therefore it’s strike 2

This Phillies team
Wouldnt finish in the top 3 of the AL East, yet they are kicking our ass
If that's what it takes to help you sleep at night...
…but the AL East was pretty bad this year. I get it, it’s the victim mentality. You’ve been beaten up so long that you empathize with your abuser but the Yankees, Orioles and Blue Jays were out of contention from the All-Star break on. It stunk. You beat a Boston team that didn’t have Manny half the year and whose ACE pitched half the season injured.
If you were so good you wouldn’t be getting trounced 8-2 and down 1 game to 3 in the World Series.
by Chase Mutley on Oct 26, 2008 11:20 PM EDT up reply actions
The ALE had four of the top five teams in the AL by Baseruns.
So, in other words, you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.

Statistical baseball...
A few days ago I gave the following friendly insight:
- Carlos Ruiz has been hot in the playoffs, despite having a week offensive year, and that he calls a great game.
- Joe Blanton is much better than his numbers suggest.
You, personally, blew me off because of your “sample size”. Your team is one game away from losing the World Series.
by Chase Mutley on Oct 26, 2008 11:37 PM EDT up reply actions
No, your sample size still sucks and your arguments are dumb.
You’re sucking on Blanton’s cock because of his W-L record.

by R.J. Anderson on Oct 26, 2008 11:40 PM EDT up reply actions
It's not an argument...
…Joe Blanton gave up 2 runs and Carlos Ruiz is hitting .400. There’s no argument, I was right.
And yes it is.

Hey...
…I came here in peace at first, wishing you a good series, and offering friendly insight that Ruiz has been hot and Blanton has been great and you and everyone else laughed me out the door with your statistics.
The game isn’t played on paper. Hot players will kill you over good players every time.
Say “Philly fan” all you want, talk about winning the AL East like it was the World Series, whatever it takes. Good luck going to bed tonight.

Jesus, we need to wake the fuck up tomorrow

Who would have ever thought
That going into game 5 of the World Series, Joe Blanton and Andy Sonnanstine respectively have more hits than Longoria and Pena COMBINED?
You know, if I dare not to hate for a second
They are failing hard but to be fair, the Phillie pitchers have pitched Pena and Longo perfectly

Rays or Bucs. Hate to say I think the Bucs

People seem to forget we are in the same division as the Sox and Yankees...
And it would be foolish to think the Yanks arent going to be much better next season. Sure, we are going to have a very good team for the next few years, but that doesnt mean we’ll be in the postseason. If we were in any other division we would be looking at the playoffs almost every year…
LOL

by AussieGriff on Oct 26, 2008 11:23 PM EDT up reply actions
They better put me in soon
I fear this game may get away from us if they don’t
you know what
no matter what we do the next 3 games, we need AT LEAST 1 big bat and we need to trade Wheeler to a GM who thinks he is great
The good thing is, we have a GM who probably knows that
My off-season priorities:
1. RF/DH bat.
2. Re-sign Upton.
3. Sure up bullpen/avoid regression.
by R.J. Anderson on Oct 26, 2008 11:22 PM EDT up reply actions
Good stuff
The bullpen comment is important. I see them going backwards, and not just because of this post season. Howell and Balfour won’t be totally lights out again, Wheeler and Percival just aren’t that good, and I’ve never had confidence in Miller
Yeah.
I don’t see Balfour being a sub-2 FIP type, although in his time here last year he was around mid-3. So if he regresses to that we’re not in too bad of shape. Howell, no idea what he does. Losing Percival will help.

by R.J. Anderson on Oct 26, 2008 11:26 PM EDT up reply actions
True, true.
They did give Hampton and Helton those huge contracts.
Then they ask for some combination of Davis/Hellickson/other top prospects.
The Dirty Canuck of the now.
That's the problem with dealing Sonnanstine.
Either
A) GM thinks he sucks, won’t give up enough.*
B) GM knows how good he is, but knows others don’t, won’t give up enough.*
*Enough = for a pre-arb starter capable of good FIP/tRAs.
by R.J. Anderson on Oct 26, 2008 11:28 PM EDT up reply actions
I see your point
But if Price and Hellickson turn out to be front line starters, what are we going to do? 7 man rotation? At some point we need to roll the dice and trade someone for need
Bullpen or trades.
Hellickson is at least a year away.
by R.J. Anderson on Oct 26, 2008 11:32 PM EDT up reply actions
I'd prefer to deal Davis.
I don’t have anyone on the top of my head that we should target though.
by R.J. Anderson on Oct 26, 2008 11:33 PM EDT up reply actions
How about Chris Davis?
1B and RF as positions
I would think so
Aren’t they banking it all on their 1B prospect they drafted last year? (Name escapes me)
Oh, yeah, I can't think of his name now either, but from ASU.

I have no idea where Smoak is from.
just that he’s the big 1B Texas drafted.
The Dirty Canuck of the now.
I don't think so.
He’s young, cheap, and they have little reason to deal him now, and every reason to ask for a beast of a haul.
The Dirty Canuck of the now.
You're right
But they are desperate for pitching
But only one year? I'm just weary of doing that.
by R.J. Anderson on Oct 26, 2008 11:35 PM EDT up reply actions
True, true. It could be an ugly situation.
And, of course, the payroll implications (Holliday makes 13.5MM in ’09). So, bleh/maybe/bleh.

One year of Holliday will cost less than 1.5 years of Holliday.
And, guys like the Mets will go off and sign FA LF/RF, so there will be less competition for Holliday

Even in his two best years he was not good enough to make a difference for us. We’d be just as well off with Zobrist, Gross, Baldelli in RF

We don't really need another big bat
We need our bats to play the way they are capable. We could have Bonds in our lineup and if Pena and Longo go 0-30 with a zillion K’s and the end result will be the same.

On the one hand, if you are going to get beat, get beat with your best players in there….but on the other hand Longoria looks absolutly lost right now and he has to go against Hamels. But I think you have to keep him in there.
If Aybar should start it should be in right or at 2nd
