Spring Training

Does anyone know/think that Spring Training tickets will be hard to get in 2009 with the new stadium and city? I'm trying to decide if a depost may be smart. Also, it would be cool if we had some type of running clock on this site counting down to the three best words in the world "Pitchers and Catchers" My two cents.

There was a countdown clock last year. It'll probably be up again.

I need a little while to get over the postseason hangover before I can start looking forward to baseball again.

If you're interested in going to a bunch of games

A deposit is the way to go. Makes tix cheaper, adn gives you better seating options. Chances are for most non Yankee-Red Sox games you will easily be able to walk up and buy tix. However, when it is one of those 2 teams, there is no guarantee there will even be scalpers to buy from, as there just aren’t as many secondary market sellers in Spring Training

I am thinking that the turn out is going to be great for Spring Training.

We don’t know how this area will embrace the Rays the after the World Series lost. Hopefully we will keep the momentum tha tthe Rays built and sell-out most dates in Spring Training. The Rays have earned it.

The Rays lost the World Series to bad umpires, Mother Nature, and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Not so sure

Most Spring Training games are in the afternoon. Combine this with the fact its an hour and a half away, and it means people have to take off of work for it. I went to as many games this year as anyone, but don’t see myself taking the afternoon off for an exhibition game. I do anticipate that they will sell out most of their weekend dates.

Spring training is unique in that is funded almost exclusively with out-of-state tourists and senior citizens.

The real test will be the beginning of next year.

also keep in mind

that there are PLENTY of retired folks down there that have nothing to do in the afternoon and will be in attendance.

I looked at the virtual tour on raysbaseball.com. It looked pretty cool.
