Gross turned out to be a pleasant surprise for me this year.
I expected a pinch hit, role player type who would barely contribute. I was wrong.
I hope he progresses into a solid every day player.

I'm not sure what this proves
It’s like comparing stocks by average daily trading volume.
Vogt early, Vogt often.

don't be dumb
Gross only plays against righties. He is .5 the player that Nady is.

Gross is also a better fielder

Nady: 126 ABs v. LHP
68 ABs v. LHP.
.5, really?

Oops, that's Gross with 68 ABs.

That was only after Nady was traded right?
If he had been there the whole season he would have had plenty of at-bats against both lefties and righties.

No, that's the entire season.
555 ABs
429 v. RHP
126 v. LHP

I think Nady's at-bats breakdowns to just about the average number of LHPs verse RHPs in the bigs.
I do understand your point that Gross doesn’t have to sit that often because LHPs are rarer than RHPs. “.5” was not a good value. I would say something like “.8”
Don’t get me wrong, I’m no fan of Nady. I would personally prefer to see Aybar learn RF this offseason. I suspect he could make a quick adjustement to the outfield and be at least average in terms of fielding. His bat has been huge all year and it would be nice to have him in the lineup everyday.

I love Gross
I use to watch him in AAA Syracuse when he was with the Blue Jays. That trade we basically stole him from the Brewers.

any idea what our wOBA was for our RF (as a whole)?

and where it would rank among other teams? I'm interested to see how our platoon compares with other team's RF situations.

you can look up OPS+ by position at B-Ref
and BPro has a stats report with league-average performance by position.

But Nady is a Yankee.
No one is better then the Yankees…
The Rays lost the World Series to bad umpires, Mother Nature, and the Philadelphia Phillies.

BUT WE NEEDED HIS BAT TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS
WE’RE LOST WITHOUT HIM
