I envy the Rays rotation a ridiculous amount.

I live in Seattle, so all I have is the Huskies and Hawks, with a combined record of 1-7, a non-existant pro basketball team, and a flailing baseball organization in a tailspin.

My hopes as a sports fan are pinned on Felix Hernandez, Jake Locker, and Charlie Frye, and none of these three are helping my hopes much.

I knew the Rays were going to be good.  I thought they might even be great.  I didn't think they would be dynasty good.

With Kazmir and Shields locked up, the Rays have two phenomenal pitchers.  Price is ridiculously good ALREADY.  Sonnastine is extremely serviceable for a number five starter.  Garza had a decent season and has nowhere to go but up (OK, that's not true, but he'll definately get better).  Jackson is an above-average pitcher who can bring in someone impressive in a trade.  If someone gets injured, Jason Hammel can fill in.  And we all know the Rays minor league system is chock-full of pitching talent.

If I lived in Florida, I would be a happy camper right now.

Meanwhile, I have to watch Carlos "Brick House" Silva and Jarrod "Can't Buy a Strikeout" Washburn 2 out of every 5 days.

If only we Seattlites could watch Carlos Pena play first instead of Bryan LaHorrible, or Evan Longoria hit a monster home run, or Scott Kazmir put up double digit strikeout numbers regularly.

Good luck Rays, I hope you get the rings you deserve.

Well said (although Kazmir starts are more frustrating than you may think)

With all the excitement, it may easy to forget how lucky we are that we get to watch this team everyday…and, Good Lord willing, many years to come. Hopefully this continues though the month, but this has already been the best time of my sports life…and I’ve witnessed a Super Bowl and Stanley Cup Championship.

Keep it going! I want my World Series shirt!

Yeah (he was on my fantasy team)

His walk rates tend to be through the roof and he could go deeper in games.

whoa whoa whoa

another Seattle fan here:

Why on earth are you holding out for Charlie Frye? He was picked up to be a 3rd string backup QB when David Greene didn’t pan out. The Seahawks will be drafting their QB of the future, not elevating Frye.

Also, I hope the Rays get a World Series championship.

You think?

I had heard Frye was Holmgren’s last project – his first two being Matt Hasselbeck and Brett Favre. That’s good company!
