My idea goes along the lines of the White Sox 'black out', as well as several colleges' 'white outs', etc. I propose strongly encouraging fans to wear blue in an effort to "Paint Em Blue" (them, obviously being the Red Sox). Although the same idea as other teams before us, it would give our fans a sense of unity at the Trop, around the Tampa Bay area and across the country for that matter. I also believe our Rays blue would stand out well.

Wear Buck Foston T-Shirt
Get a BUCK FOSTON t-shirt from rays index and wear that. You may have to pay for quicker shipment, but that is a great shirt. I wear mine all the time and always get pictures taken with people and it drives Red Sux fans up the walls.

This is just dumb
Why root against another team when you can just yell louder for your own. In 5 years your shirt will be meaningless when Boston is fighting for 4th and we are winning the division yet again.

Another reason it's dumb:
BUCK FOSTON is stupid stupid stupid.

no one hear will like this idea
because cork is behind it. Those shirts are great.

it has nothing to do with Cork
He’s a good writer but hate begets hate and whenever I see a Yankee fan wearing a shirt like this about Boston or vice-versa I think how dumb they look. It is not clever, it is not original, and it is not our style.

Oh definitely.
We all just hate Cork. Please take this bullshit drama to his site and leave it, okay?

That being said, I like the idea.

Oh, I have no control over that so I just use adblock.

Unfortunately
I can’t put add-ons onto my work computer. The real annoying part is that SBN is now starting to have some of those expanding ads, where if your pointer accidentally goes over it, it covers half the screen until you hit the close box. Mad annoying.

the worst was the white out in Miami a few years ago.

They just covered the empty seats with a white seat cover.......
I was at the game 4 vs. Bulls if that is what you are talking about.

Paint 'Em Blue idea
This’ll work great. Even the 10,000 empty seats at the Trop will look dressed up LOLOLOLOL.
I really don’t like these crowd ‘color-outs’. Did anybody go to game 1 of the ALDS? We don’t need to do silly stuff like this, that crowd was batsh*t-insane without everyone wearing the same color.

yeah...time for a little orginality people
Plus, no baseball stadium is ever going to be able to do justice to what some of the college teams are able to pull off.

I’ll just be happy not to see much red…. Let’s get Visine to give away free Rays shirts, with “Get The Red Out” on the back.

The only way to secure a perfect blue-out is to not let anyone in the stands.
by walkoffwalk on Oct 8, 2008 5:45 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
It only makes sense if you're penn state
or if you’re trying to differentiate your teams colors from that of your opponent (ex: Gators wearing all blue against Tennessee)
So if everyone wants to wear Columbia Blue I’m all for it.
by GomesSweetGomes on Oct 8, 2008 6:27 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I don't like it at all really.
A lot of people wear jerseys. A lot of people wear old drays stuff. It just seems like entirely too much coordination would be needed. Also it would make Red Sox fans stick out more.
by matthan on Oct 8, 2008 6:45 PM EDT reply actions 1 recs
That's what I was thinking
It’s going to highlight Boston fans.
My best game plan is to sit on the bench and call out specific instructions like 'C'mon Boog,' 'Get ahold of one, Frank,' or 'Let's go, Brooks.' -Earl Weaver

don't like it

Enough
with these stupid color outs. First of all, it is pretty much the least original thing ever. It was cool when the old Winnipeg Jets used to do it for playoff games, and now everybody thinks they’re cool for doing it. Second of all, it only looks cool if it’s black or white. One of the guys was right, ALDS game 1 was awesome. Everybody needs to come with some energey, which won’t be a problem. You don’t need to do anything else.

I think
Since we are now in the ALCS, management should uncover those 10,000 seats and sell out the place for real. Why let 10,000 people miss out on the game live? We need everyone there. I’m also from upstate NY, less than 100 miles from Rochester.

Not going to happen...
It’s being used to increase demand and increase season ticket deposits. Smart business.

If they're still in working shape
What’s the harm of opening them up, just for the playoffs?
I suspect they’re in disrepair by now though.

I'm not really sure how they could be in disrepair...
there are still seats available for purchase if you make a season ticket deposit. If they opened up those seats they lose the leverage of season tickets.
Boom. Outta Here.
