He should be ready to start swinging as camp starts in late February
That surgery needs a full 3 months to recover from – I’ve had it twice. I wasn’t even allowed to start throwing anything for about 8 weeks post-op.
Then again, it is his left shoulder to throwing won't be the problem

It being his non-throwing shoulder...
He should be 100% by ST. Probably will be far stronger in that shoulder because of the rehab to strengthen it.
When players report, he'll be at about 3.5 months out of surgery. He'll have 4.5 months until the regular season.
Barring a setback I see know reason he’s not fully healthy when the season starts.

I think you're all making the assumption that he won't hit a homerun every time he gets to the plate
It happened in a book, once.
i think its reasonable to suggest he will do one a game.
he hits a home run in his first AB, then gets IBB the rest of the game… stealing at least once a game.
so I’m looking at 162/240 or so.
Except Casey struck out when it really mattered. As mythical players go, he was so unclutch.
Beyond the Boxscore // Calling BJ Upton lazy is lazy.
40/50?

If he goes 25-25 with less than 100 k's we win the AL East.
Anyway, as I was lying in the puddle, I think I may have found
a way for us to get Bonds and Griffey, and we wouldn't have to give up
that much.

What;s the likelihood of that happening?

Well my quick math looks like he k'd looking roughly 58 times or 9% of his PA
If he can cut that in half by being able to cover the whole zone he might chop that in half. I have no proof of this btw. But if you knock 29 off his 134 this year you’re getting pretty close to 100 and I’d call that progress. He went from 154 (32.5) in 2007 to 134 (25.2) in 2008. It’s within reason and if he can get his k rate down to about 20% this year and still keep the walks you are talking about a disgusting season.

Dr. James Andrews
are usually the 3 scariest words in baseball but he is supposed to be ready for ST
healthy Upton with Longo, Pena, CC and our pitching staff, yummy
Less scary than hearing any other doctors name mentioned.

He is also the Rays Medical Director
If you’re gonna get BJ the surgery why not get the best?
by Tommy Rancel on Nov 12, 2008 4:40 PM EST up reply actions
The best possible hands for BJ to be in
If any of our players ever need ortho surgery, there is no person I would trust more to perform the surgery than Dr. Andrews.

Ok I should make a seperate post here
so no, not reply fail
all I meant is “Dr James Andrews” is USUALLY the scariest 3 words in baseball because it USUALLY means a pitcher is getting TJ surgery and missing almost 2 seasons.
In this case, I am very happy Andrews did the surgery.
