Magrane Leaves For MLB Network

The Heater is reporting that Joe Magrane is leaving the Rays to go work at the MLB Network. I don't blame him for leaving. I know he had his detractors here, but I enjoyed Joe's work with Staats and will miss him. It says Brian Anderson is a possible replacement, which I wouldn't mind at all. Also, the team has "parted ways" with the girl who played Raymond. The Baltimore Oriole mascot is NOT going to be pleased with that.

Loved Joe.

He was a great color man. Didn’t like the way hit would nitpick at Upton and give CC a pass on everything, but other than that minor quibble, he was tremendous. Not sure who they’ll replace him with. Perhaps a three man booth with Statts, Kalas and Anderson.

Agreed

I was a big fan of Magrane’s. He provided a ton of insight, as well as humor. I, as well, didnt like the way Upton would be lambasted, yet CC would get freebie’s….but other then that, I think this is a loss for us, the viewers.

Wow. That's a bummer.

Magrane and Statts were a great broadcasting duo.

Kalas is good in the booth, but I prefer to see him wander around and interact with the crowd. He’s very entertaining with that.

Agreed with most here.

Liked Joe. Sad to see him go. I may not always have agreed with some of his comments, but the Staats/Magrane dynamic was pretty good. I always like having pitchers in the booth.

The BJ/CC thing bothered me, but there were so many Magrane quotes that will live on.

I can’t imagine watching the Rays without Magrane.

Also the girl who played Raymond was fantastic. She was one of the best mascots in baseball. She will be missed too. I wonder what happened there. Did she leave on her own or was she let go?

I lost all interest in this guy

when in 2006 he pulled a Eucher. Dude must not have covered the mic, but he mumbles under his breath (and over the airwaves), “He’s just so freaking casual” about Beej. He never grew on me and now if we can only get rid of Staats we will be in good shape. Todd Kalas and Andy Fried FTW.

Anyway, as I was lying in the puddle, I think I may have found
a way for us to get Bonds and Griffey, and we wouldn't have to give up
that much.

Magrane

I really didn’t care for him in the beginning but he kind of grew on me over the years and I started to appreciate him more and more.
I live in Fort Wayne and catch a lot of the away broadcasters and some (a lot)of them are terrible.

Some of the memorable games this past summer. In the final Red Sox series NESN panning the crowd and the announcer goes “There’s one of the faithful that hasn’t given up” Pointing to this guy with his wife and daughter clad top to bottom in red sux gear. Right then the guy spots the camera, puts down his beer and does a two handed middle finger salute and mouth a f-bomb.

Also late in the season the Oriole announcer goes .." It a shame that more people don’t come to games down here. The other announcer goes..“The ones that do need to leave those damn cow bells at home. It’s driving me crazy.”
