J.P. Ricciardi is Cruel
First John McDonald and now this:
Also, expect Toronto to make good on its promise to Milton Bradley that he is the Blue Jays' priority.
If he gets Carmen Cali or John Rheinecker I'm coming after him.
As for Toronto, they look good. Depending on what happens with their rotation (Burnett? Lowe? Downs? Purcey?) and what they decide to do with their OF logjam, that team could contend for the division title next year. This is all assuming that they actually get Bradley, who knows. Oh, and for those who questioned Bradley's character, I'm quite sure Ricciardi has asked Billy Beane and at least Paul DePodesta about Bradley, and I'm going to assume they both gave J.P. a green light.

RJ, your Rheino/Cali lust has reached new heights. Although, if you do go after him, please record and post. Or at least give a vivid, detailed account.
The Jays are actually going to need bullpen help this offseason, especially if Downs is moved back to the rotation. League is bound to regress (4.60 tRA). So, F.A.T. arms make sense for the Jays.
I don’t see Bradley being signed unless B.J Ryan is traded or the Jays skimp on the rotation. And, this offseason isn’t a good time to trade Ryan because of the vast availability of closers on the FA market. So you can breathe easy.
Do the Jays have payroll room for it though? If Burnett walks, I would assume that the money goes into another starter. After that, unless the Jays are raising payroll, (VERY unlikely).
I know that's a pisser, baby.
League's still recovering from an injury, though, right?
So he might be more healthy in 2009 than 2008 (helping performance).

I really hope we make a strong push for Bradley
I think that is the place to spend money, and promote from within for our bullpen. Lets give houser or phillips a shot at the loogy role and put Neiman in long releif. Haven’t heard much about Hammel this offseason either.

Similarity score
Courtesy of Baseball reference. Chances are we have seen the best of Bradley already.

I disagree
He has struggled w/ injury and personal issues in the past. I’d expect that this level of Bradley is about what you’ll get (controlling for park). Also remember he’s played in some pretty cavernous home stadiums, too (LAN, SDN, OAK).
Getting older isn't going to make him less injury prone.
I agree with GSG, we’ve seen the best of Bradley.

From MLB Trade Rumors today:
Blue Jays To Sit Out Free Agent Market?
By Tim Dierkes [November 19 at 9:15am CST]
Beyond attempting to re-sign starter A.J. Burnett, Blue Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi does not intend to dabble in free agency this year. He told MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian he’d probably stay in-house. Ricciardi shot down rumors of interest in Jason Giambi, Milton Bradley, and Rafael Furcal.
Trades are Ricciardi’s ideal route, though Richard Griffin notes J.P. has rarely dealt prospects for Major Leaguers. Griffin believes big league trade chips may include B.J. Ryan, John McDonald, and Lyle Overbay. Jason Frasor could be another.
WOOO HOOOO! If true…
That's nice to hear.
B.J. Ryan really needs to pack his bags now though.
All the F.A.T. acquisitions, and then this.
I know that's a pisser, baby.
All they do is manually aggregate news reported elsewhere.
And since they always quote their sources, you should judge those sources, not Tim and company. Well, if they repeatedly use bad sources, I guess it’s their fault.
