Red Sox Trade Coco Crisp to Royals
According to Brian McRae reporting for Sports Radio 810 in Kansas City, the Royals acquired Coco Crisp from the Red Sox for reliever Ramon Ramirez (MLBTradeRumors.com).
I think it's a really good move for the Sox, unfortunately, and I'm not really sure what the hell the Royals are doing over there. They now have three speedy outfielders (Crisp, Gathright, DeJesus) along with Jose Guillen and Mark Teahen. I would imagine someone else is going to be traded (Teahen?). The Royals have been the most active team so far with trades, but I'm not really sure they've gotten any better. They have done a nice job of ridding themselves of solid bullpen arms though!
Ramirez is pretty nasty, and not arbitration eligible yet. At 27, he's in his "prime" and had a 3.42 tRA* (tRA+ of 142) last year with 70 Ks in 70 IP.
The Sox essentially cut payroll, got rid of Crisp as they were expected to, improved their bullpen and added some youth.
Props to Epstein once again.

Not sure what to think about it.
This means that two of Guillen, Teahen, and Butler are on their way out. At least.
Crisp is an improvement defensively over DeJesus and Gathright at CF.
If the Royals could eat salary and dump Guillen on somebody, it would really take them a step forward.
But then, Ramon Ramirez is a sick reliever (as was Leo Nunez). However, it could always be that the Royals are going to utilize F.A.T. more to fill up their pen.
Who wants to bet that Mahay is on his way out, especially after Ohman/Fuentes/Beimel are signed.
I know that's a pisser, baby.
Butler and Mahay plz

Having a solid bullpen during a rebuilding phase
is an inefficient use of resources in my opinion. Good moves so far on their part, though I would like to see someone on the Royals break Crisp’s jaw.
Anyway, as I was lying in the puddle, I think I may have found
a way for us to get Bonds and Griffey, and we wouldn't have to give up
that much.

The only way this would seem to make sense
If the Royals already have a deal in the works to trade DeJesus/Gathright and Butler/Teahen/Guillen to the Cubs and somewhere else. The issue may be that the Cubs main trade piece looks like Pie which wouldn’t fit with the Royals. This trade seems to make Butler even more available which makes me happy. We could still see the Royals make like 3 more trades. If they bring in young, minor-league talent then all these moves would seem to make sense. Relief pitching isn’t going to win this team 90 games, and if they can bring in talent now that they have so many pieces in similar spots it may not be as bad as it looks now.
I think Sean Marshall will be the big Cubs trade chip.
Samardizija looks available as well, with the bringing in of Kevin Gregg. And Hendry’s questionable moves.
And since the rotation right now looking like Zambrano-Dempster-Harden-Lilly-Marquis, which puts Marshall, who’s pretty good as a starter, in the pen. Since Marquis is pretty much untradable (although Marshall is better), Marshall will probably be traded for Teahen, etc.
Marshall replaces Bannister in the rotation, because Bannister sucks. Greinke-Meche-Marshall-Davies-Hochevar is a pretty solid rotation.
I know that's a pisser, baby.
Not sure if I heard correctly or not on XM
but Samardizija has a no-trade for some fucking reason. Not sure how…

You're right.
He wanted to stay in Chicago, and turned down something related to football to do so.
NTCs = generally not a good idea.
I know that's a pisser, baby.
more so for rookies

Bannister might not be a bad guy in the pen
He looks pretty good against righties at .699 OPSa. Lefties crush him, which was a similar problem Shields had coming up, so perhaps it is as simple as working on a cutter this winter. His numbers are not good, but as a project guy, you could do a lot worse than Bannister.

weird trade
Sox did will to get rid of a part-time piece to get a solid arm in the pen, the Royals are definitely going to be getting rid of two of those three Blicks mentioned and hopefully the Rays look into that.
IF only Harry Carey could be arounde for Kosuke.

This is just as good as the idea to get him and stash him in Single-A.

09: This one is for all the rings.
The Royals have made worse trades .. just within the past month
But that’s not saying much when it comes to the Royals over the last couple decades.
Rocco
With Crisp traded, does it seem more and more likely now that the Sox will go after Rocco as their 4th outfielder??
unfortunately yes...
man im glad that the reds didnt trade for coco’s dumb ass, otherwise it would be really hard to root for that piece of shit, man the rays might have to keep gomes in the dugout next year just incase guillen, olivo, crisp and grienke try and start shit.
everything Rays,Marlins,Twins and Reds
