Brad Nelson: possible option for RH power?
I still like this guy, and didn't realize his stats were back up... He is wasting away in the Brewers' org.... and I find this an intriguing cheap option.

What's there to like?
He doesn’t hit for power and finally got his OPS over .800 on his third time around at AAA. All this as a firstbaseman seems uninspiring to me.
from what i recall
nelson has had wrist injuries… the power doesn’t worry me… i recall him being quite built/strong, just last year for whatever reason (i think he was injured, but again i lost track of him after 06), his batting eye doesn’t look impressive, but his OBP in 06/08 is nice
He's never showed power
I have never seen him play, but his numbers seem to scream AAAA. He has never hit .300 or hit for significant power. His career minor league line is .269/.347/.439/.786 at 1B. I just couldn’t get excited about this guy as anything but a AAA 1B.
i can't find a site that tracks minor league players injuries... but i'm pretty sure
he had a power-sapping injury… that has nagged him for a while… because I found this on wikipedia:
He was selected to play in the 2002 Midwest League All-Star game in Lansing, Michigan, and the 2004 Southern League All-Star game in Chattanooga, Tennessee. In both all-star appearances, he won the home run derby that was part of the All-Star festivities. He was also named the Milwaukee Brewers’ 2002 Minor League Player of the Year, after leading all minor leaguers with 116 RBI and 49 doubles at the age of 19.
he slugged .520 in midwest league debut at the age of 19. since then he has been up-and-down, and I’m pretty sure its because of injury… but you can’t say “He’s never showed power”
Is he a minor league FA?
I can’t see the team actually trading someone for him.
Space.
It's a problem we face.
So we never go anywhere.
We just stay in one place.
