Rays Prospects: Who's the #1 Positional Prospect?
Anyone willing to make the case AGAINST Tim Beckham?

I picked Jennings. Outstanding CF D, HIGH OBP, power potential, if he could stay healthy he'd be an amazing prospect. Beckham is too green for me.
Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.

I went with Brignac
I know he struggled in the majors when he got called up last year but I still see him as a gold glove type short stop with the potential to hit .300 with 20 HR

His defensive abilities makes him better
Who would you rather have at shortstop? Brignac can provide offense and handle the postion, that we saw this year with Bartlett, that can make a diference for our pitchers. I ranked him number 3 in the whole system.

Him hitting .300 is a bit wishful.
I’m thinking very good D, not great, with a line of like .280/.320/.450 with 20 hrs.

That's what we hope he becomes. If he does what Drew did this year
I’ll be ecstatic. Although Drew will most likely get better. Long term I’d expect him to look more like Drew’s career stats so far: .274/.328/.452

That's good enough for me
Put him before or after Longo and Pena.

My 2 cents
If I had to choose based on potential, Beckham is automatic due to his position/perceived upside/position stability.
However, if its based on his season stats on short-term future, the nod goes to Brignac due to DJs injury-bugs

In the future
can anyone imagine a middle infield of Brignac and Aybar?

No. Aybar cannot play middle infield.

I thought
Aybar was considered a pretty good second baseman. Am I wrong about that?

Per Chone Smith, he's equal to Aki.

SSS
Although because of their respective physical sizes, Aki probably looks better with the eye than he actually is and Aybar probably looks worse with the eye than he actually is. Don’t underestimate the importance of Aybar’s extra 9 inches of reach.

Thats what I heard
I know he may not be as flashy as Aki, but he is solid with the glove by all accounts. I think he would profile as an above average second base option when Aki is gone.
