We Just Lost a Piece of F.A.T.
Scratch Josh Phelps off of your wishlists, he was signed to a MiLD (with invite to spring training) by the...Giants(?). Huh. I hope the Giants sign Eric Hinske too, and reunite the 2002 teammates that finished within the top six of Rookie of the Year voting.

Well at least he didn't sign with a team that has Pujols
but if this guy ever wants another chance, he needs to sign with a AL club and play DH.
I wasn’t all that excited about the Phelps idea so this is fine with me.

Phelps is an example of a guy who's numbers will always look better than what is really there
Much like Hinske, he can hit in small doses, but over the course of a season he has been exposed before. I saw him jack two in a game in his last go around here and then go on to do nothing.
Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind.

I was never interested in Phelps.
Been there, done that.
The Rays lost the World Series to bad umpires, Mother Nature, and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Is Phelps even an upgrade over Dan Johnson?

I would have loved to have him in Durham!
Then we would have had 2 guys (1RH, 1LH) with good pop as backups for DH/1B and maybe (at least in Johnson’s case) as COF!
