JJ Putz traded to the Mets in 12-player deal
MORE SAVES FOR THE METS!
Mariners closer J.J. Putz is headed off to the New York Mets in what has turned into a 12-player deal. An announcement is expected at 9:30 p.m. So far, we know Putz is going to the Mets, along with Jeremy Reed and Sean Green. Luis Valbuena is headed to the Indians.
The Mariners get right fielder Franklin Gutierrez from the Indians and outfielder Endy Chavez, reliever Aaron Heilman and Class AA first baseman Mike Carp from the Mets. As well, they get three more minor leaguers from the Mets, right handed pitcher Maikel Cleto, outfielder Ezequiel Carrera and left handed pitcher Jason Vargas.
Mariners minor league second baseman Luis Valbuena would go to the Indians.
Cleveland also gets pitcher Joe Smith from the Mets.

Gutierrez can't hit, but
he’s a great defensive OF. Basically traded him for straight up for Joe Smith, who is a lesser Sean Green, who was in the same deal.
The Mariners are going to challenge us for the best defensive OF.
Chavez/Gutierrez/Ichiro v. Crawford/Upton/Joyce is probably a slight Rays advantage, but man, no more lawn darts there.
wow maybe they want a couple of other guys with closer expiernce (wheeler and percy) for a PTBNL
that would free up about 7 more million right? i am kinda think the rays should go with an all cheap and young bullpen and get rid of 2 of wheeler, bradford and percy(doubt they would be able to move him) and replace them with d-rod and salas and have niemann replace hammel
everything Rays,Marlins,Twins and Reds
who needs k-rod for 37 million when you can have d-rod for 50k?
me too, but rumors have them shopping him, probably since percy is going to come back
everything Rays,Marlins,Twins and Reds
who needs k-rod for 37 million when you can have d-rod for 50k?
