Bonds or Bradley
Pretty simple question. Pretty simple answer. Both guys have character issues, one has the potential to play OF and I doubt Bonds could say that at this point, but still an interesting question.
The big reason everyone is staying away from Bonds is the whole criminal thing. He allegedly lied to a Federal grand jury and his trial begins on March 2nd. I know we don't want to wait that long to sign a DH, and I know it's not a real possibility that we go after him, but let's play fantasy-land here and assume he doesn't get charged. The question is simple: who would you rather have as the Rays DH next season, Milton Bradley or Barry Bonds?

I like Bonds and all
but at this point in their careers, I would much rather have Bradley in our lineup.

Bonds
Is a lot more likely to be able to hit in a majority of the games.

Whichever FA can beat Sonny in a game of Table-Pong is who we should sign
based on clubhouse influence. Whoever owns that table owns the locker room it is that simple.
Anyway, as I was lying in the puddle, I think I may have found a way for us to get Bonds and Griffey, and we wouldn't have to give up that much.

At this point I think Bonds would play for the league minimum.
That would make him a better signing than Bradley imo.
Use the money saved on another solid BP arm.

But they play the same exact position
And I’m pretty sure Bonds isn’t going to be signing to be a team guy and PH who rides the bench.

But Bonds would be a lot cheaper
And Bonds vs. Bradley, it’s tough to make the ‘clubhouse distraction’ argument.

i dont think so
i think Bonds’ media attention is way worse… they both have “attitude” or whatever, but Bradley won’t be bringing the media circus with him… it’s draining, and it can affect the other players… an outburst or fight or two from Bradley won’t be much compared to what Bonds could bring.

I would imagine that after what this team went though last season from getting to the WS
they are going to have to deal with some mad media presence anyways,
I could be wrong though

thats mostly positive though
not Bonds-type-negative…. and it still won’t be close to what a Bonds-comeback would do… we all know the Rays will be watched more closely, but come April, the Yanks will be in a new stadium with a new billion-dollar lineup, etc etc
