I don't want to say anyone is dumb but this is pretty f'ing funny

and what….who with the Rays is letting dollars go for an academy in another country, where so many jobs need to be found right here in our fine state…..NO WAY Ray!

I guess we should build are Dominican Academy in downtown Miami

Anyway, as I was lying in the puddle, I think I may have found a way for us to get Bonds and Griffey, and we wouldn't have to give up that much.

lol

Yeah, that’ll fly, taxing Hillsborough County residents to build a stadium in Pinellas County. The only way they do this is if the team moves to Tampa.

Vogt early, Vogt often.

Yeah, I'd be happy to chip in if it was in Tampa

Otherwise, my tax is having to drive to St Pete to see the games.

not that it will happen but

A lot of stadiums are financed this way, St. Louis for example i’m pretty sure pulled funds from five surrounding counties, the Rays execs are merely asking those other counties whose citizens will benefit to chip in, nothing should be unexpected about this it is the recent trend.

IF only Harry Carey could be arounde for Kosuke.

I say kick the Yankees out of Tampa and build a stadium on the spot of

Steinbrenner Field. I would chip in if that meant building the stadium in Hillsborough. I would probably go to almost every game rather then the 20-odd games I went to last year.

In the name of Shinji Mori, we shall win!

not an option

the yankees still have a lot of years left on their lease. no way we can kick them out without paying a ton of money. Besides, that site wouldnt be good for the Rays because of the crazy deal the bucs have on parking. if the rays played there, the bucs would get all of the parking revenue just like they do for the yankees games (except for the small lot at legends).
Sorry St. Pete, but this one is on you. No way is Tampa going to pay for a stadium over there. Especially with this economy. 0% chance Tampa or Hillsborough county approves a tax hike to pay for a stadium. Plus, with St. Pete’s lease with the Rays they cant move to Tampa. It would cost them too much to breach.
I for one love the Trop. It isnt the best stadium but it is plenty good enough.

Actually You could move the team to Hillsborough with no additional taxes

The CIT tax that was approved by Hillsborough County in 1996 is estimated to generate over $30bil over the life of the tax(30 years). The Commisioners have only allocated for $7bil of this money so far.

The Site that makes the most sense and is centrally located is currently where the Florida State Fairgrounds sit. Junction of I-75 and I-4 you could pull residents from New Tampa Downtown Tampa it is 20 mins from Channel Side, Brandon Plant City, Lakeland Orlando Wesley Chapel and Bradenton and it would be right around the corner from the Seminole Hard Rock.

Just my two pennies. I think the team ends up there anyways. I think Sternberg asked for the most redicioulous stadium in the most redicioulus area just so Pinellas would turn him down as an excuse to move to Hillsborough County.

I will go see them no matter what county they are in. But being closer to home would be nice.
