If the Yankees trade for Mike Cameron...
there has been speculation that Xavier Nady would become available. Do you think the Rays might re-investigate a deal with the Yankees, similar to what they tried to do with Pittsburgh, to acquire Nady? Then maybe they put Nady in RF and Joyce as the DH? Nady played pretty well under the bright lights and pressure of the Big Apple. Though he's getting up there in age, he would be a productive veteran presence in the clubhouse. Thoughts?

Joyce is probably a win better than Nady in the field.
Why would Joyce DH?
Plus it would be buying high.

No for more than 1 reason
Joyce is a GREAT defensive OF who might wind up starting aginst lefties just because of his glove. Also, if the Yankees deal him IN the division, he will cost us a lot.

Oh yeah, I forgot
I would rather spend the money, and 0 prospects on Bradley or Giambi. Nady is very good but Bradley/Giambi are MUCH more of an impact bat.
Dunn and Burrell also if we can even get Dunn.

I still dont understand
Why the Yankees are still pursuing all of these corner outfield/DH types. They already have Matsui, Damon, Swisher and Nady. It seems that LF, RF, DH, an 1B are covered, yet I still see that they are pursuing Manny, Dunn, Tex, etc. Obv Cameron makes sense because Damon cant hold up in CF, but all these other names dont.

The Yankees don't really have a CF...or at least they say.
They have Melky Cabrera and Brett Gardner, who are good defensively, but their bats just aren’t there. But, they’re the Yankees.
Damon should not be playing CF. Period. He’s a corner OF.

FTFY
Damon should not be playing CF. Period. He’s a corner OF throws like a little girl.
Anyway, as I was lying in the puddle, I think I may have found a way for us to get Bonds and Griffey, and we wouldn't have to give up that much.

At least he doesn't throw the ball into the ground.
Although that’s funnier.

Sure, he's below-average in CF, but he's not a butcher.
He should start there over Melky and Gardner.

Wait... really?
He’s below-average range-wise, but his arm is terrible. It’s a wet noodle. Anyone with a modicum of speed would advance on anything hit to CF. Carl got in on a sac-fly to him from 2B, and that was at least two years ago. He is a butcher.

Gardner still has a chance to develop
But as for Melky, if he hasn’t found his stroke by now, it’s not going to happen for him.

Melky's still pretty young
I don’t think it will happen because he was never any good to begin with, but it’s not like he’s a lost cause.

No he didn’t.

Actually,
Nady got progressively worse as the season wore on. He had a terrific last week with the Yankees, but his last 28 days saw a line of .233/.275/.384 and from July to the end of the year, each month shows a decline in his stats. Once he got to NY, he essentially returned to what he has always been, a good 4th outfielder or a decent option on a team with an otherwise excellent offense.

Someone you don't give up a legitimate prospect for
Unless you have more money than God and a rabid fan base rallying for more meat in the trough.
Anyway, as I was lying in the puddle, I think I may have found a way for us to get Bonds and Griffey, and we wouldn't have to give up that much.
