Around SBN: Cal RB Jahvid Best Seriously Injured, Carted Off Field

Showering alone is awesome.

Well guys, I'm back. At least for the next couple of weeks of so anyway. Probably for good, who knows? Christmas exodus is finally here and the good Uncle Sam saw fit to grant every IET soldier 2 weeks of vacation. They do it every year. Its nothing out of the ordinary really, but I'll be damned if its not the greatest thing in the world to me right now.

It sucks on some other-worldly level that I missed out on the post-season. The old man who does head count in the cafeteria was nice enough to post the scores every other day or so. So it wasn't like I was completely oblivious as to what was going on. My heart still wept with every score I read and every game I knew I missed out on, though. So it probably would have been better if I had been in the dark.

I'm not the least bit upset that we lost the WS. Not even a little bit. Just knowing that we got there and won a pennant by beating the Red Sox is enough for me.

Lets see... +1 for letting Floyd, Miller, Hinske, and Rocco walk. Jackson for Joyce was fucking orgasmic. Good God I don't know how that man keeps pulling off deals like that.

Oh, yeah. Basic was cool. I got to shoot some bad-ass weapons. Grenade launcher, 50-cal, ect. Tossed a couple of live grenades. Camped out in the woods under my poncho for a few cold miserable nights. Led a tactical road march and an assault on this shanty town dealie (I was a squad leader for the last few weeks). Put on 18 lbs (so far) of muscle... It was fun. Kinda easy. Way easier than everyone made it out to be.

I'm in AIT now and we're allowed to have our electronics. So I just bought a new laptop and I shouldn't have any problem keeping up with the site. Believe it or not I actually missed it here. It was just one of the many little things I missed I suppose, but draysbay crossed my mind several times over the last three months or so. I'm glad to be back guys.

Welcome back Vin

Try the poonannie, it’s delicious.

Anyway, as I was lying in the puddle, I think I may have found a way for us to get Bonds and Griffey, and we wouldn't have to give up that much.

Nah,

Same here. It would’ve been good to have your commentary here during that time. The ALCS was a roller coaster ride.

At any rate, good to see you’re back around.

Wish I coulda been here for it, so bad...

but I doubt my drunken blathering would have added much to the conversations.

and its good to see you’re still hangin around these parts.

Ugh

I hope you know you’ve condemned your son to a lifetime of suffering horrible nicknames. No matter how many times someone has called me Vinnie Barberino or Vinny Testaverde or Vini Vedi Vicci, its always as if they’re the first one in history to do so because they always, without fail, have the biggest shit eating grin when they say it.

Goddamnit Tommy, its good to be back.

I know exactly how this feels. I've learned to respond to it by giving those people cold, blank stares.

I get equal jollies out of their confusion and consern that they’ve greatly offended me.

I should do that...

Make a big scene every time somebody calls me one of those names. Or maybe just act like I have no idea who they’re talking about.

“…Its Switzer, sir. Why would you think my last name is Barberino? I’m not even Italian.”

Vin for Jonny Gomes? Y'all just got friedman'd.

Brad Ziegler had a scoreless inning streak. Brad Ziegler had not met BJ Upton.

Welcome back, sir.

Enjoy the ladies and booze. And the interwebz as well, but hopefully to a lesser degree.

Actually I've enjoyed the internet more than the other two so far...

Which is something I need to work on… But I’ve downloaded like 10 movies and a shit-ton of music already so… you know… score.

(I’m still in Tennessee and the ladies and booze are in Indiana)
