Rosenthal On Bradley, Burrell & Giambi.
The Cubs are confident of signing free-agent designated hitter Milton Bradley, but a number of teams remain interested in the free-agent designated hitter, including the Rays, Yankees and Nationals.
One slugger to watch: Pat Burrell. The Rays could sign either Burrell or Jason Giambi if Bradley lands with the Cubs. The Mariners also like Burrell, and the Rangers could view him as an option if they do not trade for the Tigers' Gary Sheffield. The Reds have publicly stated an interest in Burrell, but he likely will rise out of their price range.
Just sign Burrell already.

Just wait and sign the cheapest DH option, already.
Burrell’s price tag is probably still out of the Rays’ range. It’ll take others signing for him and his agent to realize what he’ll actually be making. I could see a one year contract.

If they wait and sign the cheapest DH option, already
I will wait and buy the cheapest option to see the games, already.
The cheapest DH option will be Ty Wiggington, and this is a stupid stupid option. Sign Bradley, sign Burrell, sign Dunn, or sign Giambi. Those guys are the viable options.

I meant cheapest of the decent options.
The guys you listed, plus Manny (who sits at a 1% chance) and Abreu (3%).

Bradley to the cubs makes no sense,
he can’t stay healthy playing sometimes in the field on an AL team, dude has no future in the NL unless it’s as a 4th OF.

good call Sky
What is there like 8 or so teams looking for a DH type bat and 8 guys who fit the profile?
Sure they are all at different levels but im not seeing this as a time to throw around un-needed money.
hell….All I want for Xmas is Barry Bonds.

R150?
Runs above a replacement player given 150 starts?

150 starts is why I like Burrell
He will make them, and some of the others I am less sure about.

Burrell's big categories
are HRs and RBI. Plus, he maintains a solid OBP. That’s a pretty tough class you’ve got him going up against, but he’s probably going to be one of the cheapest and will definitely drive runs in.
On with the (good) youth movement!

and maybe the best part is he crushes lefties
I would rank him behind Manny and Bradley still but Manny is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy out of our price range and the Cubs will eventually overpay for Bradley.
