But yay! WAR! Best Christmas gift ever.

I want these 3 things left under my tree.

Indulge me if you will

We all know the SP’s
Relievers: Niemann, Ohman, Percival(yuck), Bradford, Wheeler, Howell, Balfour
I guess we lose Rodriguez, thanks for not retiring Troy! but just for my X-Mas gift to RJ, what if we change Ohman to Rhino, sign Nelson and make up a Percival injury?
Evan Longoria and David Price - the fight for my heart
Can I trade Aki and my soul
as well as a PTBNL for Rafael Perez instead?
Evan Longoria and David Price - the fight for my heart
Aki is pretty important to this team
now if his $4.25mil option for 2010 is too much, then maybe he should be traded at the deadline, but personally I think he is worth it.
Important to this team how?
What does he do that Aybar can’t?

I would love to see someone deny that
Go ahead
just try
I have to admit though, can Aybar handle 2B as a everyday player? Just not sure about his D holding up.
Evan Longoria and David Price - the fight for my heart
He is slighly below Aki in terms of D at 2B, but Aki is older and more expensive
so that evens it out. Besides talk Japanese and take a kick to the groin there is nothing Aki can do that Aybar can’t.

but there are things Aybar can do that Aki can't
I am all for that move but I don’t expect it at all.
Evan Longoria and David Price - the fight for my heart
How exactly do you know he's only slightly worse?
Based on a 70 inning sample? Especially when that sample contradicts his scouting reports? The Braves moved him away from middle infield for a reason, and that was at a time when they desperately needed a 2B.
Vogt early, Vogt often.
He's a plus defender at third.
Odds are he’d transfer to second decently.
Aki was bad a third (per the metrics) and transferred to second decently.

Play defense
I realize Aybar played well at 2B per the stats in a very small (70 inning) sample size, but with that small of a sample I’m inclined to believe my eyes and scouting reports instead which say he’d be a very bewlow-average defender at second.
Vogt early, Vogt often.
What about playing third well?
Does anyone seriously believe Longoria or Aybar couldn’t be at least an average defender at second?
by R.J. Anderson on Dec 24, 2008 8:47 PM EST up reply actions
Both could. Longoria most definitely.
Aybar’s rated well defensively wherever he plays.

They need to groom Willy into a RF in spring training, platoon with Joyce.
Between that and INF utility he should get enough playing time. I agree though that he needs to play, his BABIP was pretty unlucky this year, should be a .280/.360/.425 bat, with .450+ SLG versus lefties.
Ive been an advocate of Aybar at 2B for a while now
I really think he can be just as good defensively as Aki and his bat would be one of the tops in the league for second basemen. Maybe in 2010.

I don't think so actually
about him being the 2B in 2010. Rays are in love with Barty so they will probably have Brignac playing 2B in AAA all season this year.

Bartlett for MVP!
