Barry Bonds...MAYBE?

MLB TradeRumors has mentioned the possibility of the Rays looking to sign Barry Bonds... how are people around the Rays world grumbling about the situation...Personally, I think besides all the trouble and problems Bonds has experienced around the MLB world, I still think he would be a good veteran fit into the Rays system if they can pick him up at not too high of price. He would be a good DH presence in the AL east, and that might allow the Rays to maybe offer Gomes as trade bait for a couple decent minor league pitchers.

Re: Barry Bonds...MAYBE?
Topkin has mentioned Bonds, and it was a passing mention, it seems quite unfounded.

Re: Barry Bonds...MAYBE?
So if Rocco and Floyd are healthy where would everyone play exactly?  I have a sneaking suspicion that Bonds wouldn't want a minor league deal invite to camp.  Just guessing...

That ain't happening.

Re: Barry Bonds...MAYBE?
Well, Floyd and Rocco don't really matter if we sign Bonds.  They'd have to fight it out for playing time.  Bonds would be easily our best hitter.  He's still a Top-10 hitter in all of baseball.

That said, like RJ said, it's not happening (despite my wishes).  Topkin has not inside info on this, he's thinking out loud.

attitude problem=bonds
the rays have had a offseason that no one will forget and they have changed their attitude and if they sign barry bonds to a deal then they might as well trade back for elijah dukes. no doubt that bonds can still hit homers as a DH but with his indictment and his really poor attitude there is no place on this team for bonds because he is a spoiled big baby who needs his rest a couple of times a week and needs his naps and diapers changed frequently or else he gets really pissed off.

Re: Barry Bonds...MAYBE?
Consider this lineup though
  1. Akinori Iwamura
  2. Carl Crawford
  3. Barry Bonds
  4. Bj Upton
  5. Carlos Pena
  6. Evan Longoria
  7. Rocco Baldelli
  8. Dioner Navarro
  9. Jason Bartlett
Now that is a Lineup balanced with speed and power.

Consider we have Floyd in Bonds spot and we are great without him.
