Say Good Bye to the rotation, Hammel.

http://mlb.mlb.com/news/boxscore.jsp?gid=2008_03_10_clemlb_tbamlb_1

With a line of:

IP: 3.1 H: 9 ER: 9 R: 9 BB: 3 SO :2

I think it's safe to say he almost obliterated his chances at a rotation spot. I know it's one start, but all of us had him in the bullpen anyway. It looks like Sonnanstine and Jackson have sealed their spots. If Jackson nukes himself, Niemann or Howell will take #5 in my opinion.

12-10 Indian win

Rays stayed in it till the end. Upton had a great day. Longoria did good from the plate, missed another ball on defense.

Maybe not nuked, but EJax line from yesterday was a tad gruesome, too.

Could it be Niemann and Sonny? Doesn't Sonny get the start Wednesday?

Until they get waxed?

No matter the 4-5 spots are going to be at best inconsistant this season, and that may be putting it nicely.

Re: Say Good Bye to the rotation, Hammel.
Maybe that would make me push for Niemann in the pen if he had a run of 4 IP, 5 ER outings, but not Sonnanstine.

Let's skip a year and just put Price in the rotation. ;)

Re: Say Good Bye to the rotation, Hammel.
If he pitched every inning the way he did in his first inning against the Yankees, I'd make him our #1 starter.

Too bad that's unrealistic.

Re: Say Good Bye to the rotation, Hammel.
I wouldn't be opposed to it, and I actually think it would produce the best results at the ML level would be Niemann and Price in the 4/5 slots.

That would be awesome... if all could produce to their potential.

sorry to say i told you so but...i told you so!
i told everyone that the last 2 spots should go to sonny and niemann because right now jackson and hammel are getting there asses kicked each and every start.

Really?
the last start was Jackson's worst game of Spring. Let's not be too quick to judge.

Re: Say Good Bye to the rotation, Hammel.
I didn't think he had a shot to make the rotation to start with, he should go to Durham to work as a reliever, but he'll prolly start in the pen as a long-relief guy.

Re: Say Good Bye to the rotation, Hammel.
He's out of options; he can't go to Durham without clearing waivers first.
