As for Kazmir, he and the Rays insist there is nothing wrong with his elbow and that he is merely being held back to build up the necessary arm strength. He played catch Tuesday and hoped to throw a bullpen session today, but Manager Joe Maddon said he didn't think that would happen.
Kazmir said his arm feels "great," and he still thinks he could be back in time to slot in at the end of the Rays' rotation, which would come up the first weekend of the season.
But conversations with the Rays' trainers, RHP Troy Percival and Anderson himself have convinced Kazmir of the wisdom of taking his time now in the hope that he won't miss any additional time in the middle of the season.
That should make everyone slightly a bit more optimistic about Kaz' elbow, also one more interesting injury related note:
