Over at BTB Dan Turkenkopf, who I'm proud to say is my first hire, has continued his extensive work on catchers and blocking pitched by looking at WOWY numbers. An interesting Rays note is that Dioner Navarro ranks amongst the best in blocking pitches, and apparently saved 5.3 runs since 2005, third best in the league, even ahead of Mike Matheny. Despite his offensive shortcomings thus far in his Rays' career, it's encouraging to see that his defense isn't as bad as some would have you believe.
