Edwin Jackson
Hey everyone, I'm from Brew Crew Ball. I wanted to get the experts' opinions on something: I just picked Edwin Jackson up on my fantasy team, and he had a great game today. Obviously, he was a great pitching prospect in the past, so his success isn't unprecedented, but I was wondering whether you think he's getting lucky or whether he's really, at long last, put it all together. What are your thoughts?

We really don't know.
We have no idea how EJax is going to do from one game to the next. It doesn't matter who or where he's playing. He could very well blow up the scoreboard the next few times out then throw another shutout just before he goes to the bullpen.

Yes. He's "Mr. Inconsistent."
Over the years, he's become less inconsistent, and I haven't give up him. He might turn things around this year.

Or he might not, just like the past four years
He's done well so far, but I'm not on his train just yet.

I agree
I'd definitely like to see it continue though. His next start is against the Yankees, whom he faced on Saturday, so it'll be interesting to see how he does against them the second time around.

And let me say
Your playing Russian Roulette when you have Jackson on your fantasy team. Wrong game starting, and your team is going to get killed.

He was a top prospect at one point in his career for a reason. The more he matures, the better he might get.

If memory serves
Wasn't there some EJax to Seattle buzz in the off season? He put on a pretty good interview today.

Yes, lots of it.
The rumors on the internets focused on Jackson for Ben Broussard, amongst others. Apparently Bavasi really likes him.

I don't want to get rid of him just yet.
If he keeps performing like this, his value will skyrocket, and we just may have a very good rotation with him pitching to his potential. (HIGHLY Doubtful.)
But I mean seriously, once the top 3 are back, we have a very good rotation. Jackson keeps this up, we have one of if not the best starting rotations in the league.
Like I said, it's wishful thinking, but I absolutely love E-JAX. He's broken my heart alot, but I hope he makes me look good by living up to his potential. He has all the stuff. Maybe he should room with Sonny, he could give him pointers on how to actually throw strikes.
Other thing is, If he finally breaks out, then there goes another spot taken that the upcoming prospects won't be able to get. And Kazmir will definetly be traded if he doesnt want to sign medium market price, long-term. If he does sign, Look for Jackson to get traded off.
I love talking hypothetical. It just shows how much potential our pitching has.

Jax leads in wins?
My sense is you better hope that doesn't happen.
There's really nothing in his overall track record that suggests the likelihood of consistent success - he has had only 1 stint at any level with an ERA better than his 5.45 in Tampa in 2006 (in 36 IP) since 2003. That's 5 seasons ago folks! It was 11 starts (62 IP) in AA Jacksonville - how could he not succeed in HIS "ville" - in 2005 of 3.48. Also his only WHIP under 1.6 in that entire time.
Jesus may have turned water to wine - I'm not convinced he's gonna turn E-Jax into Jake Peavy. Or even Kyle Lohse. But he has had 2 nice starts so far. if Seattle wants him, I think I'd go for fleecing Bavasi.
