Hatin' on the Red Sox

So this weekend I followed a link from Rays Index to a Red Sox site called Tales From the Ballpark, specifically this post . <--Go read now then come back.

I left a post that read something like this:

You should save this post as a template for the other 12 times the Red Sox lose to the Rays this year.

That's all I said. I check the post on Sunday after we took the second game of the series and my post was gone. I found this post waiting for me on the site . <-- Go read this one now.

I checked the first post 4 or 5 times and I was the only one that left a comment as far as I know. It's funny how Red Sox fans deem themselves as "privileged" and are not entitled to trash talk when their team is playing poorly.

Now, I can't imagine that this is the only case of this amongst the Red Sox sites. Did anyone else find something similar?

That’s funny… NYYFans did the same exact thing when they lost the ALDS last year.

The “members” of the SoSH caste system are particularly nasty. They got upset at Aki’s “bat flip”, and were really pissed at the team playing “Sweet Caroline”. But the non-members, or “lurkers”, have been more laid back, not as nasty.

Keep in mind the “members” of the Sons of Sam Horn are, for the most part, condescending, self-important, hypocritical a-holes who look down on anybody who don’t have total recall of every last SABRmetric for their team for their entire 108-year history. I know this from experience.

You mean a Red Sox blogger is refusing to call the team by its current name! Stop the presses, rescind the merchandise orders, and confiscate all of the new apparel that has been bought. It’s all over since a Sox blogger refused to acknowledge it.

Red Sox fans probably don’t go there either. If you want to shoot some crap with Sox bloggers that know something, go to Firebrand (mvn.com/mlb-redsox/). You’ll like today’s post there.

By the way, must have been a great weekend for you all down there – I was on a sailboat race to Mexico (then drunk of course) so knew nothing of it til last night.

Playing Sweet Caroline might have been a bit tacky – or just extraordinarily welcoming of the enemy. But I guess you deserve a little Cocky-ness.

Oh, I think I got it – maybe tacky was the wrong word. But if I’m still missing it please correct me. Re the Sox blog, it’s like a tree falling in an empty forest.

Should they ring cowbells if they sweep you back this weekend? Sometimes we reap what we sow.

Look, I like nothing better than anybody beating the Sox, and after reading through the game wraps I can imagine what a good weekend it was – I certainly enjoyed it in retrospect!

But do you regularly go into others homes and talk trash? Clearly no one is spending any time commenting in the mentioned blog – it’s virtually a hobby for this lady. It’s like putting comments in her diary.

I don’t come in here and talk trash about the Rays – I may make a poorly constructed wise crack occassionally, but that’s only because I’ve been around here awhile. I come here to talk baseball.

Not that some trash talking isn’t okay in some venues – in the popular team sites it’s kind of expected. Just don’t think that was the place – regardless of her artless comments.
