because he is the best of the bunch. The easiest and smartest move is to send Sonny down. Do not send JP down. He has proven very effective in long relief.

I think he will have a solid career. He throws hard enough, but he has been the least effective and it is the easiest roster move.

How are you so sure? I know you base your opinion on stats,but...
how can you say these things so definitively. Is he going to finish the season with a sub 2 era, probably not. But he is apparently doing his job well and I don’t see why he couldn’t continue to be successful. His stuff must be pretty good if major league hitters are not hitting him hard. I would rather have a pitcher who is careful in the zone and gives up a few walks than have someone who is always in the zone and gets hit hard.

That smells like a leverage-saving move
No doubt, a smart one, but just one to save face. I think they’ll move Clement. They’re just putting him at DH for the time being so that it doesn’t appear as though he’ll be blocked. That would significantly reduce Seattle’s leverage in trade talks.

What's the difference between Jason Hammel and JP Howell?
Hammel got one more out using 26 more pitches and Howell can actually strike out hitters.
I whiffed on Hammel and hit on Howell. Not that way.
