Sick of ESPN!!! A rant by me.

Hey Rays fans, I got to admit I am hooked on this DRAYS BAYBlog stuff.  I love hearing from all you guys and what you got to say about the most underrated sports team history, so I always feel if I got something to say about the Rays I'm better off getting info and different sides of stories from you guys then a bunch of stuck up O's fans, so anyways let me vent.

I hate ESPN  ... why?  Well when they cover the Rays, say for example John Buccigross or Soctt Van Pelt snicker under their voices about how the Rays for once have a winning season in begninng of May.  I don't know about you guys but it rubs me the wrong way.  A television cable channel like ESPN should do their best to appeal to every team and that objectivity is key.  Van Pelt or Buccigross don't have to like the Rays, it's your decision, but alot of Rays fans watch Sportscenter and want to see their team's highlights, especially people like me who can't catch every game since I live no where near the Sunnshine State.  I know that there are some sportscasters on ESPN who are very opinionated such as Stephen A. Smith among others and that is hilarious, entertaining and insightful, but when you're just showing highlights and its Sportscenter keep the BS to yourself.  Instead of covering how great James Shields perfromance was against LA, they decided to just laugh at the fact that their finally having a winning season.  They never even covered Navarro's home run in the 13th inning against Toronto... WTF?!?!  And what the hell is up with "TITLETOWN?!?!?"  Give me a break ESPN.  I'm subscribing to FSN FLORIDA.  GO RAYS!!!!!

... man I feel better now.

BBTN is almost ruined.

eduardo perez works for bbtn

i like that he works for them because when the rays went on that 6 game winning streak he said that he was glad for the organization and they showed his walk off HR against the red sox and he sticks up for the rays so atleast we have him on our side.

For our sake

Gammons also represents us very well, never really giving harsh criticisms of the team.

Kruk and Ravech are the assholes, same with Vina in the one blurb I remembered him blurting something negative. Though, he was the same dumbass that bought HGH with a personal check.

It's really annoying

that when the Rays don’t play Boston, New York or LA, we have to wait toward the end of the show to get our 2 highlights. Good thing MLB.com’s Gameday posts video highlights throughout the games.

i also am sick of espn/abc/disney

its just balls. their commentators/announcers as well… and its not only baseball… except for peter gammons i really think the rest of them could benefit from a nice kick to the groin

Still no love

Just watched baseball tonight and I am shocked. A game which featured a second place team with the reigning AL strike out king versus the division leader in the west drew 1 highlight while the Yankees (barely at .500) and the Tigers (currently last in the central) had a whole segment. Terrible.

And where is the love for Pena?? Not even mentioned on web gems for his diving grab in the 8th that saved 2 runs!

CHILL OUT!!!

Quiet confidence, dude. They will respect Tampa soon. They haven’t even starting hitting yet.

patience

If the Rays continue to win this season, even ESPN’s announcers will have to stop the giggles and put on their serious sportscaster faces.

ESPN usually loves it when a team goes from worst to first. But that network must pander to the viewers in the northeast US, so we get to see the Yankees and Tigers blunder along.

The train wreck that is the 2008 New York Yankees season will just make viewers sick if they stay below .500.

I do want to see Peter Gammons’ sour face when he’s reporting live from the Trop during the MLB playoffs later this year! Maybe he will wear a black armband for his Red Sox after the Rays take the AL East… we can only hope!

I haven’t watched Sportscenter or BBTN in a few years.. it’s nice.

It’s funny so many fans, regardless of the sport or team (but esp. college football fans), think ESPN has it out for them.. yet keep watching.

Longlorious.

steve phillips thinks the rays are going to stick around all year

just was watching sportscenter and out of the 2 florida teams he was asked which one he though would be able to keep it up and stick around all year and he picked…the rays! well he is another one that gives the rays respect ( maybe a little too much for giving us kaz!!!) lol wasnt he the one who did that?

by RaysOfHope on May 11, 2008 11:56 PM EDT reply reply   0 recs

pretty sure he wasn't there when we got Kaz

and isn’t he the same douchebag who said we should move to San Antonio last year and be the Saints?

ESPN knows their bread and butter is with Red Sox and Yankees fans. Like it or not those are the two most popular teams in baseball and ESPN appeals to the majority of fans by pandering to them.
