Kazmir Staying Long-Term?

I don't listen to Mike and the Mad Dog for obvious reasons, but luckily Cork Gaines does, and caught this snippet from Stuart Sternberg:

"We are exploring something with our other star pitcher now"

Not a shocker, since he didn't say much that you wouldn't expect -- the Rays would be foolish to not talk with Kazmir about an extension -- but more interestingly is that Sternberg didn't seem committal about future Disney Word Series.

Also I'd be remiss if not to mention that Tommy Rancel has a great post up about Jim Hickey over at Outs Per Swing. He's definitely one of the top Rays bloggers going right now.

This deal is going to be out of the box and unique

It’s either going to be a very long term deal (8-10 years) or a short based deal (3-4 years) with a bunch of options. It definetly will not be like Longoria/Shields deals. Kaz will get more money
