I mega-loathe RF Hinske. Gomes cannot be that bad. I’ve seen him play, he is not that bad. He does everything better than Hinske out there except route running, which granted, is a huge deal, but he’s not so much worse that what is gained in speed and arm strength won’t make up for it.

I really feel like he's a genuinely nice guy and that the Jays tried to paint him as a jerk concerned about money.
I still remember a book as a kid called something like “The Good Guys in Baseball” and it talked a lot about Frank Thomas. I forget exactly why, but stuff like donating money and just loving to play the game. Since then, I can’t help but like the guy.

When i was young..
I went to a spring training game. I got Frank’s autograph and Ozzie gave me the lineup card. This was a while ago. It was really cool he was my first “all-star” autograph I got. Ever since then I became a fan.

Good game. Percival is in a funk lately though. Glover needs to be sent down. Him and Balfour were close coming out of the Spring and Balfour has clearly out pitched him since. Heck he has outpitched pretty much everybody. He has earned a return trip to the majors.
