Good gracious what a start. 8 innings, four hits, two walks, 10 strikeouts on 114 pitches with roughly 68% being strikes. Outside of the pitch count you couldn't dream up a better start, especially considering the seemingly new found variance in his pitches. Of course the Rangers have hacked quite a bit this entire series, but still, thisi a much needed assurance that hey, Garza can strikeout people too.

If it's Balfour

I would prefer the Rays let him get his feet wet in non crucial spots and let him earn his way into the 7th inning of a close game.

Personally, I’d hope that it is Niemann.

benefitted from a generous strike zone but his curve was also on display today. He’s filthy when his full repetoire is working.
