cliff floyd
on the rays page on mlb.com joe maddon says that cliff should be able to come back either during the angels series or the yankees series so i dont think that the rays need to go out and sign or trade for any outfielders right now unless an injury happens to one of the OFers and he is going to be coming back as a DH so i hope that they put eric hinske in RF because he is having a huge bounce back year and his bat is legit again and jonny gomes is better suited to coming off the bench and subbing in every once in a while for hinske and floyd and i think that this is going to be the end of either gabe gross or nathan haynes in tampa.

Good Blog
I agree. Gorss can’t really offer anything offense with his bat, but he’s a great fielder. Which I think is awesome. I would never want the Rays to turn into the Canseco-McGriff-Sorrento experiment again, where there are all these bats but not defense. Haynes being traded or dealt with would suck, since I was cheeing for him in the late inning hit to win it against the Red Sox. LOL, I never thought as a Rays fan I would have trouble with getting rid of a player. This team is awesome and we have so many weapons it’s incredible. Having Floyd back is going to be great. Upton is playing fantastically, Crawford is always a professional. Man it’s just so great.

Haynes is a goner!
And he won’t be missed. He and Gross are both best suited to be late inning defensive replacements, and you don’t need two of those. Gross has a much better arm, so it is really a pretty easy choice for the Rays.

Interesting
As adamant as I was about Longoria getting the shot at 3b, I still believe Aybar can provide value to the team. It might work well to have him get starts at 2b against righties, and 3b against lefites.
