Number 1 pick

After looking at the possible choices for the number one pick, I couldn't really decide who could be the front runner.

-Tim Beckham

-Gordon Beckham

-Buster Posey

-Pedro Alvarez

Those are the guys who I think the Rays have narrowed it down to. All have great tools, and they all have their downfall. The guy, who after looking at some videos and reading some articles, that looks like he could be the next Troy Tulowitski(sp) is Gordon Beckham. The guy can hit for average and power, and plays a hell of a SS. He looks like he could be ready in 1-2 years, and that is why we wouldnt take the other Beckham because it would take a good 2-4 years for him to develop.  Please give me some input on what you guys think. Also, after looking at Posey at the plate I dont like his swing at all. Thoughts on Beckham and Posey?

I really want either Alvarez or T Beckham

They are the safest picks imo, even if Beckham is in HS, he’s suppose to be a little under J Upton with a better glove and can stay at SS

And well, Alvarez just demolishes College pitching.

He's a lot under J Upton

Justin Upton is a once in a decade prospect. Like Griffey, A-Rod and J-Ham were before him.

nothing on G. Beckham?

I dont know what it is about him, but he reminds me of a guy that could come up quickly through the system and make an impact

khalil green comps...

run rampant on sickels site, and I don’t disagree. I hate Khalil Green so I’m not a big gordog fan, FWIW.

T. Becks

That’s who I want, that’s who I expect. Rays need more depth in the infield. So either T. Becks or Alverez would be welcomed. Maybe you move Alverez to 1st base or Longoria to 1st? If the Rays draft T. Becks maybe you move Brignac to first?

Hell move Ruggiano to first?

In the Name of Shinji Mori, we shall win!

Longo won't move...

especially not for Alvarez, who is somewhat questionable with the glove at 3rd. I am torn between T Becks, Alvarez (w/ a move to RF), and Buster Posey. That is if Posey is as good as advertised. I doubted untill KLaw threw his supoort behind the pick…

I have another option......

Im not convinced with this #1 overall pick!!!

Like many years there is the NUMBER 1 Guy, but not this year…
I say select the best available player and offer him a contract, but not like we did last year with david price… if he does not accept the contract, then we get the #2 pick next year…
maybe the options can be clearer.

Hello Kitty, #1 in your fantasy league. =p

Not going to happen

but what might happen is they might draft Posey and sign him for slot money then spend more later in the draft.

oooo i like that idea of not signing the guy

and having a HUGE draft next year. how is the 2009 class?

well

Unless we were guaranteed Steve Strasburg with the 1B pick, I don’t like the idea of wasting the pick by picking a player we couldn’t sign.
