Is Desmond Jennings Injury Prone?

Rays minor-league outfielder Desmond Jennings, one of the team's top prospects, hasn't played this season and could be out for a lot longer. Jennings had a back injury in spring training and has since hurt his left shoulder, farm director Mitch Lukevics said. Jennings is still in Tampa Bay's extended spring program, but hasn't played in any games.

"He suffered a little setback," Lukevics said and wouldn't speculate when Jennings might return. "No ETA."

Goodness,  this is getting ridiculous, but hopefully Desmond can comeback strong and in the long term scope of things this is just a minor setback.

Crap I hope not!

I just invested som serious money in his baseball cards! That would suck if he doesn’t pan out!

And that's why I'm still a big Corey Patterson fan.

OT: Is this a weak draft class?

I wonder if the rays will take alvarez and then not sign him so they can get the first pick next year.

isn’t that how the new rule works if you can’t sign a player? you get that pick back next year?

If we didn't sign the #1 overall

we’d get the #2 pick next year, not #1

I think Desmond is great kid who is in wonderful shape

He is just experiencing a minor set-back. Nothing to get ahead of ourselves for.- Sincerely,

Then Friedman must decide if #1 pick this year is better than #2 pick next year.

No

they’re not going to draft a guy to not sign him. They’re going to draft whomever they feel is the best player within reason. If they have Pedro #1, but Posey and the Beckhams are 2-4 and all have a similar grade, they’re not paying 5 million more for Pedro and won’t draft him. They’ll sign their pick, I promise.
