Dear Sonnanstine,
Please pitch smarter today.

so, i understand wanting to rest crawford. but, do we really need to rest him against a guy that he’s hit 10-21, .476, off of?
Meh, pitcher/batter matchups aren't trustworthy.

Going to the Biscuits game today.
Does anyone have any questions for me or anything to look for?
It’s McGee v. Ryan Tucker. (Marlins)

If McGee uses something outside of his fastball.

Report...
McGee was up in the zone quite a bit. In the first inning he surrendered a homer and a double. His curve ball has very little break and is more effective because of the speed (low 70’s) than the motion. He also leaves that pitch up. The highest he hit all day was 94. For the Fish, Maybin showed his athletic ability legging out an infield single then drawing a wild pickoff throw. He also took a McGee offering completely out of the park. Decent game overall.

they’d really be stealing one
Ugh
Stupid BJ. Now next inning we can lead off with a Pena K instead of getting it out of the way now
Buehrle has a great move.
Was BJ napping or was it a balk?

Jay Bruce another homer...
Think Dusty likes this? He might not be able to run the team as a final home for sons of former players who are black.
On the other hand, he enjoys undeserved praise being reaped on him for having a supremely talented left handed bat.

What the hell is Pena bunting for? He needs all the strikes he can get
Hes going to K again
And another K for Pena
He should go for most K’s in a season

with sonny pitching
you really get the feeling that there is no hope.
Sonny starting to lock it down today...hopefully
Our bats need to get the man some run support, though
Just made the Rays second round pick in that mock draft
Brad Holt, RHP, UNC-Wilmington
Keith Law took Posey in the first, so Posey/Holt so far. That’s a pretty nice draft.
"I've seen many, many blue skies turn gray, but the sun will eventually return, and so will I. So will I." - Carlos Pena
Lets see if they quit on this game
Watch for a lot of first pitch swinging to see if the Rays give iup
I think he'll get out of this.
"I've seen many, many blue skies turn gray, but the sun will eventually return, and so will I. So will I." - Carlos Pena
Sonny doesn't belong in starting rotation
He doesn’t have the stuff to make up for his lousy pitch placement. So what if he throws strikes. He might as well put them on a tee.
The problem is
We don’t have a lot of major-league ready options
by JMB on Jun 1, 2008 2:47 PM EDT up reply actions
I agree
And I doubt Howell will be better as a starter than he is as a reliever. It might be worth checking out though…
I'll throw chairs through things if Howell is moved from the 7th.

Hmmmm I dunno
He’s only been having success in this role for 2 months. I don’t think we need to pigeon hole Howell quite yet.
He's having success because of the pen velocity inflation.
Why move him to the rotation where he’ll be overexposed?

Because his salary is 1,000,000 which is roughly 2% of our payroll.
